We had the good fortune of connecting with Miska Kajanus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miska, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I approach risks as saying yes to opportunities. We are presented with many adventures, and as in improv theatre, it is usually good to say yes to these adventures. With each yes, there’s a risk attached, but I try to say yes to most of the things. We should say yes especially to things that scare us.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Finnish-American actor, comedian and a filmmaker. I have been coming to the US since 2001, and I have lived in L.A. for the last five years. I have worked for years as an actor and a comedian, but in the last few years I have got into podcasting (With Miska podcast) and I have learned filmmaking, and we already have two feature films released with my friends (Insanity and Someone Somewhere).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to see an improv comedy show, probably at the Upright Citizens Brigade, we would try some street tacos, hike at Runyon Canyon, and probably end up at Rainbow Bar and Grill, since many of my friends like rock ‘n’ roll.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to all of my teachers, friends, supporters and mentors. There are many people who have helped and encouraged me along the way.
