We had the good fortune of connecting with Monze Delgado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monze, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up locally in Pico Rivera, my parents both immigrated from Mexico shortly after their coming of age. My father started working odd jobs to make a living when he was encouraged to look into a career, he decided to go into welding. My mother came to the united states and started her career as a seamstress. After meeting they were blessed with two children. They both worked very hard and built their own company. I got to watch them build their own company together and provide for our family. This only encouraged myself to work hard and to build my own future.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I am asked what I do for work I have found myself taking a deep breath, because where do I start? I recently graduated as a LVN (licensed vocational nurse), and I love that aspect of my life. But while I was in nursing school I started two other businesses that put me through nursing school and have become something greater than imagined. I am most known for my Cooking and Baking business, also known as MD Cocina. What started off as let me make a cake for a family friend, or some treats for this party quickly turned into a business that I now hold near and dear to my heart. The fact that this business first was established in March 2020, thats right the same month and year that our lives were officially changed by COVID-19 and blossomed into a career still shocks me today. I take orders from anything to do with cakes and desserts, but like a full kitchen I also offer catering. I have catered brunch buffets for senior high school classes, and even catered friend birthday’s with some tacos. I believe what sets me apart is that I use family recipes, for example my popular “Flan de Cajeta’ is a recipe passed down from my grandmother from Michoacan, Mx. Along with my food business I provide beauty services, from makeup, tooth gems and even teeth whitening. I learned that in order for anything to be successful you have to do the work that comes with it. For that reason in all my services I am certified or licensed to do so. I work hard, study, and use trial and error before offering any service to the public.

If I could tell the world something about myself and my brand, I would simply say I’m just a Latina woman trying to make it in life, trying to provide for my family, trying to help my community, and trying to encourage younger generations to work hard and that anything is possible. I like to include my daughter in everything and anything I do, and I have noticed that she enjoys it. It brings me great joy to be able to not only provide for her financially but also the liberty to enjoy physical time with her while doing so.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Week long trip for my best friend? I would immediately start with mani’s and pedi’s at Annie’s Nails in Whittier, and quick visit to Prime Boudoir to get our brows touched up. After visiting Prime we would most likely go to Kalaveras just a short walk away. Since I love food I would have so many options to take them to, but one of my must go to’s would be Solita’s Tacos & Margaritas in Huntington beach, their ceviche is just amazing. A couple beach trips are necessary since it is California. Although I love having my days scheduled, I like to go with the flow at times. So I would take my friend’s opinion on what they wanted to do while visiting.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a special thanks to my daughter firstly, even at a young age she understands that all my work is going towards building something greater, and I appreciate all her patience and understanding. I want to thank my family for being my village and helping me with child care and even running errands. I want to thank my friends for pushing me forward, motivating me and simply checking in with me constantly and reminding me to take a deep breath. I want to dedicated this shout out to everyone that has believed and supported me from day one.
