We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Cleary and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
At 22, I was not ready to start RENVI. I was enrolled in an entrepreneurial program that twisted my arm and made me file my DBA. There will always be excuses that stop creative individuals from taking that leap, and I will forever be grateful that at such a young age – I was pushed towards that economic independence. From that time forward, I have never second-guessed my decision to build and run RENVI. It is so important to go all in, and spend your energy thinking of ways to make the business work, as opposed to other career options. I believe that is the difference between those that succeed and those that do not; you have to be resourceful and rid yourself of self doubt.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I do a large amount of custom work for clients, creating one of a kind fine jewelry. I was building RENVI at a time when the traditional wholesale/retail model was deteriorating and this gave me an opportunity to move in a different way. No longer did customers need department stores to co sign brands – people were now trusting independent brands and their work. RENVI was able to step into this space and really take advantage of the direct contact and communication with customers. The relationships that I have built, that I would not have otherwise been able to facilitate, really feel like the life blood of RENVI’s stability and momentum.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
God damn it COVID! In another time and space… Terroni, Beverly Nossa, Los Feliz Bar Stella, Silverlake Black Cat, Silverlake Pine + Crane, Silverlake Hollywood Reservoir Day trips to Montecito Maru Coffee, Los Feliz Winesome, Playa Vista Cole’s, DTLA Il Cafe, DTLA

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Demetra Chazanas, of Demetra Design, has been an unbelievably supportive mentor as I’ve worked to add interiors under my RENVI umbrella. Robert Keith, of HOORSENBUHS, was the one that introduced me to jewelry design and the industry. For that I will be forever grateful!
