We had the good fortune of connecting with Murphy Li and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Murphy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I started playing piano when I was a child, and that was my first connection to creativity. Music taught me to listen—not just to melodies, but to emotions hidden between the notes. Later, when I discovered film sound, I realized it was the same magic，using sound to shape how people feel and experience a story.

Growing up in China and later moving to the U.S., I’ve been able to merge different cultures, perspectives, and techniques in my work. Founding Harmonyflicks Sound Studios Inc. gave me the freedom to collaborate on projects ranging from films to commercials and music videos, and to craft soundscapes that transport audiences into another world.

For me, pursuing a creative career isn’t just about making a living—it’s about expressing something deeply human, connecting people through sound, and leaving behind work that continues to speak long after the credits roll.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Harmonyflicks Sound Studios Inc. was born out of my passion for storytelling through sound. After years of working in film and television both in China and the U.S., I realized that sound has the unique power to shape how audiences feel and remember a story. I wanted to create a studio that not only delivers technical excellence but also approaches every project with a deep sense of artistry and cultural sensitivity.

What sets us apart is our ability to bridge different worlds—merging the precision and discipline I learned at the Beijing Film Academy with the collaborative, innovative spirit of the U.S. film industry. We’ve worked on everything from narrative films to commercials and music videos, always tailoring our approach to the creative vision of each project.

Starting the business wasn’t easy, especially as an immigrant navigating a new market. There were moments of uncertainty, but I learned to see challenges as opportunities to adapt, grow, and strengthen my network. Along the way, I’ve discovered that success in this industry isn’t just about skills—it’s about building trust, listening deeply, and making people feel heard.

I want the world to know that Harmonyflicks Sound Studios Inc. is more than a service provider—we’re a creative partner. Every sound we capture, mix, or design is crafted with the goal of helping stories resonate long after the final frame.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend visited LA, I’d give them a mix of iconic sights and local favorites.
We’d start with brunch at Americana（I live in Glendale), then head to Griffith Observatory for city and Hollywood sign views.
There’d be a beach day in Malibu or Venice , an art day exploring The Getty and Walt Disney Concert Hall or Universal Studios or Warner Bros. Studios, and some hidden gems like Abbot Kinney Boulevard and some speakeasy bars in DTLA.
If possible We’d hike Joshua Tree National Park for a day,last-minute souvenir shopping at The Groves, and wrap it all up with a rooftop sunset at Perch LA，followed by a night out in West Hollywood enjoying the nightlife！
For me, LA is all about great food, inspiring art, and unforgettable views.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give my deepest gratitude to the people who have shaped my journey.
It began with my childhood piano teacher, Jin Sha,who taught me not just how to play notes, but how to feel music and listen between the silences.
From my professors at the Beijing Film Academy who guided my early steps into film sound, to the talented friends and colleagues in the U.S. film industry who welcomed me into a new creative community, each of you has left an unforgettable mark on my career.
I am especially thankful to my family for their unwavering support across continents, and to my team at Harmonyflicks Sound Studios Inc. for believing in our shared vision.
