We had the good fortune of connecting with MXXNSAMURAI and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MXXNSAMURAI, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Happiness for me comes from creativity, peace, connection, and humor. Music has been part of my life since I was born, and it’s always been therapeutic. it helps me mentally and emotionally. Art has the same effect. I’ve been drawing for decades, and it’s a way to express myself and clear my mind. Skateboarding brings me freedom and calm, especially when I’m riding through quiet streets. I find joy in being around people with good energy, because it allows me to connect deeply and be authentic. At the same time, I value solitude, because it gives me space to recharge, rest mentally, and focus on my creative side. Humor is important to me too I believe people need to laugh in life. That’s why I’ll annoy the shit outta people, not to be mean, but to make them smile. If they’re happy, I’m happy. And honestly, another reason I do it is simply because I’m just being myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m MXXNSAMURAI, an artist based in the DMV. I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. it’s always been my way of expressing what I feel and what I’ve lived through. Most of my music comes straight from my experiences: the emotions, the struggles, the lessons, and the moments people can relate to. I want my art to connect with others the same way it helps me process life.

One thing that really sets me apart is how diverse my creativity is. I’m a multi‑genre artist, so I never limit myself to one sound or one lane. I let the emotion decide the direction. And when it comes to drawing, I’m the same way I draw whatever I feel in the moment and whatever I see around me. My art shifts with my mood, my environment, and my growth.

Getting to where I am today definitely wasn’t easy. I’ve had to push through a lot self‑doubt, life challenges, and moments where it felt like nobody was paying attention. But every time I wanted to stop, the art pulled me back. Creating became the thing that kept me moving forward. I learned that consistency, patience, and staying true to myself matter more than anything.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that your journey is just as important as your destination. You don’t have to be up there yet to make an impact. And that’s what I want the world to know: MXXNSAMURAI exists. I’m here, I’m creating, and I’m building something real. I might still be on the rise, but I’m putting in the work every day and this is only the beginning.

And beyond the art itself, anyone with beautiful energy is welcome to be part of the MXXNSAMURAI energy , the MXXNSAMURAI community. What I’m building isn’t just music or drawings; it’s a space for people who feel deeply, think differently, and move with intention. If your energy is real, if your heart is open, you’re already part of it

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If someone important to me were visiting, I’d plan a week that’s peaceful, fun, and personal. I love nature, so we’d spend time in the woods or by a lake relaxing, hiking, doing bonfires, and just unwinding. I’d mix in things they enjoy too skating together, grabbing a drink at a bar, visiting an art gallery, or catching a concert or local show. Mostly, I’d want us to have fun, laugh, and create moments that make them feel happy and comfortable.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out the people and experiences that shaped me, even the ones that weren’t good. Most of my past relationships and situations were difficult, and I’m not thanking anyone for treating me badly. But I can acknowledge that those experiences taught me what I deserve, what I won’t tolerate, and how to protect my energy. Instead of letting that pain define me, I turned it into music and art. Some of my strongest work came from transforming those moments into something real and meaningful.

I also want to acknowledge the people who didn’t believe in me or didn’t mess with me. Their judgment never stopped me. I kept creating, kept expressing myself, and stayed true to who I am. Doing what I love has always mattered more than anyone’s opinions.

And I have to shout out the music and art that raised me. The songs I grew up with and the visuals that inspired me shaped my voice, my style, and the way I express myself. They taught me how to turn every experience especially the bad ones into something creative and powerful.
