We had the good fortune of connecting with Nichole East and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nichole, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The biggest risk I take is putting myself out there for judgement. Being the face of a company has its good and bad days. Being on social media – every word you say and image you show is up for interpretation by others – and we all know that the internet just LOVES to share its opinion. So putting my face and my opinions out there is the biggest risk I take in order to affect change in my community. The bravest thing I can do it be me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My videos are my art. It takes a lot to even just THINK of what to produce. There are so many options, but I love finding a tie in to history and the present day. I love coming up with the concept, filming, editing, and presenting it in a way that has the best impact. Sometimes the smallest song choice is a very big deal for me to make sure my art is just the way I like it. The only way I learn is my trying. I try and try again. JUST DO IT! My first videos are terrible and I can only assume that the videos in my future will be better than they are today. Practice makes improvements and the biggest lesson you will ever gain is from taking an L.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I released a LOVED BY LOCALS Map that was created through the contributions of locals. It lists HUNDREDS of local owned restaurants, shops. The goal is to love and support our local businesses so that we can keep our money flowing in Long Beach. Aside from the map, riding my bike around town is a great way to cover a lot of ground and see all the beautiful and wild things in the city. I love how bike friendly our city is and the bike path along the beach is the premier example of beach vibes.
Nothing beats the Bluff on the weekend, you’ll see everything from a drum circle to pole dancers. The diversity of our city totally shows up in our parks on the weekend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the amazing Long Beach Community! I do what I do because of their endless love and support for fundraisers, content, and events. We all work together to keep the community safe and keep an eye out for each other. There would be no point in doing what I am doing without my community’s support.
