We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Sisto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting a new project always generates self-doubt, but when the vocation is evident you have no choice but to face everything and give yourself creatively.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting is never easy, even today, after 18 years dedicated to the audiovisual world, it’s still difficult for me to continue evolving in my profession. I think the essence in my photography is to look at things with honesty. Discovering remote places and looking at people in the eyes is my passion and where I feel most comfortable with my camera. I always try to bring the projects to my creative field, surrounded by nature, with natural light whenever possible and with real people. When a brand understands these concepts and fully trusts me, it makes it a gift for me to work with.
Getting to where I am now has taken a lot of hard work, effort and dedication. My career and the good results in my work are reinforced by my list of clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in a small town hidden in the mountains, so when my friends come to visit we usually go to the most beautiful places in the natural park where my house is located. We could go climbing, bathe in the river, foraging for mushrooms in the forest, ski or go up to watch the sunset on top of the rocks that we have behind our house… it all depends on the season of the year of course.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think we are professionally shaped with bits of various people we meet along the way. In my heart I would thank the trips, the books and all the people with whom I have had the opportunity to share our creativity by working together.
