We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicolette Sikelianos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicolette, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always been a go- getter but there came a time where I found myself wondering why I was always working so hard for other people. I started my own business because I knew that I could help to spread my passion for fitness with all of the knowledge that I had obtained in the dance industry, fitness business and more. I knew that if I took a chance on myself I may struggle at first but the reward would be well worth it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In starting my fitness business I had no idea what the outcome would be but I wanted it bad enough to take a risk. I would say the thing that I am most proud of is creating the business 100% on my own. From filming the workouts, to editing, to marketing and everything in between. Because of this, when I had people who supported me and bought into my business it meant that much more. I’m not saying that it was easy, there were many late nights, hard drive crashes and fails but everything that happened helped me to grow and learn along the way. I also want to make it clear that I am nowhere near where I want to be and I can’t wait for the many more lessons that will build my business from a small business to a corporation. I want people to know that no matter how large my business grows I will continue to give every customer a personal experience.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Funny story, my best friend was just in town visiting. My all time favorite place in LA is a restaurant in Malibu called Moonshadows. The views and food are amazing. Runyon canyon trail is also a must with great views of the city it makes for an athletic adventure. Castaway in Burbank is the perfect brunch spot with bottomless mimosas. And making a day trip to El Matador state beach is always a must.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have many people to thank for the success of my personal and career growth. I have been lucky that I am surrounded by such genuine, hard working, helpful people. In starting my fitness business, my best friend, Mina Huynh has been my right hand man. She has been there for every shoot, every part of the planning process & more. I definitely couldn’t have done it without her. I would also like to thank Loui Pacheco, my mentor and friend for introducing me into the fitness world in LA and for always believing in me. Surrounding yourself with people who want to see you win is so important.
