We had the good fortune of connecting with Oak Kristopher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Oak, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Alignment and success are one in the same and I’m just thankful to be in my purpose. I’ve been so lucky to have amazing students that come through my programs and I think it’s just my natural way of drawing close other gifted healers. While my astrology school offers a solid experience of learning astrology, it’s also an intimate guide into my personal consulting practice and my ways of working with birth chart analysis. It’s clear to me that when you get that urge to learn astrology, there is a ferocious yearning that ignites within the self. It takes over and then you realize that you are in communion with the elegant structure of all things. To be able to place language to the mother tongue of the soul is mind blowing.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It was an interesting experience to learn astrology from white spaces and white teachers and being a young person in my 20’s. I could barely afford all the classes and mentoring since it’s pretty expensive to learn. My work is a culmination of pouring all my resources it into my studies as well as my 10 years of work in the healing arts. While astrology is a practice that encompasses all things and all people, I find the most gratification sharing this knowledge with other people of color and marginalized folks. Because of ancestral trauma and systemic oppression, personal empowerment is something that all/most POC people need to build in order simply thrive and claim their success in our society. It truly pleases me to offer teachings that assist in the deep healing of then self & also to teach fellow healers to share this craft to their communities. Approaching astrology as a tool for liberation is the goal. While we cannot effectively impose change on others, with proper language and framework we can effectively alchemize our own hearts and minds.
There’s a lot of astrology online especially spilling over in social media, my programs approach learning astrology from a counseling, healing and depth analysis perspective. This way you’re learning well rounded and effective astrology that is geared toward professional development.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Tbh I’m a sensitive homebody that makes ridiculous glam meals for 1 and curled up with a book. Sometimes I get a kick out of going to Erewhon, spending $60 on lunch and chillin on the grass anywhere. And the salsa at Trejo’s Tacos is just chefs kiss.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My first spiritual mentor is still a brilliant source of inspiration for me. Her mentorship was the very first time that someone took a chance on me at a time when I did not even believe in myself. The work we did changed my life and set me on my path to where I am now. That act of faith is a testament to the idea that acts of generosity and kindness can change this world. Even now, when I create a community offering or give guidance in my consults, it is still a nod to my experiences with Freda.
