We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Lawrence and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The main component behind the success of my brand is the ability to being open to learning. As a freelance artist-turned-entrepreneur, I quickly realized there is so much to absorb and my openness to learning new things has been key. I often remind myself that if I am gaining knowledge, then I must be growing and growth re-fuels everything.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Creating Lip Lūffa has been such an amazing journey. As a freelance, professional makeup artist for 13 years-I wasn’t sure how to go about bringing an idea to life. But I decided to just begin. Day by day and year by year for 4 years, I worked on my product and brand. Countless nights sketching designs and researching ingredients or taxes, sales tax, international taxes!! Finding a lab, chemist, manufacturer, graphic artist and even bank. So much to learn while also balancing my bi-coastal, freelance career, personal life, health, etc. One of the biggest lessons I have learned along the way is to move, make progress, make a decision! Once I realized my end game, the road there opened up and then so did I. You can’t possibly know how to do a new thing because it is new to you! We just have to keep going. Keep learning and persevering. If you believe in what you are doing, you cannot be stopped. Keep you eye on our IG and STORE because we are adding new accessories! A new way for pros to stock up and look fresh. Coming next month!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie were visiting me for a week, we would go on a vegan food tour and beauty shoppe extravaganza! First stop for food is Lotus Vegan for the best orange broccoli and curry. We would also have to hit: India Sweets and Spices, Gracias Madre, Little Pine, M Street Coffee, Bulan, Sun Cafe, Malibu Farm Pier Cafe, Counterpart, Badmaash, Cinnaholic and Van Leeuwen to name a few! We would go to incredible beauty spots in the city, starting with facials at Beauty by Erica Gatt or sweat sessions at Shape House. The shopping always starts Nigel’s Beauty Emporium where we stock up on luxury and professional products including Lip Lūffa! Some of the best spots in beauty are: Naimie’s, Violet Grey, Larchmont Beauty Center, Glossier and Hourglass. Whether you just pull over on PCH and kick the soccer ball around on the sand or sign up for beach yoga, no trip to LA is complete without getting your feet wet and setting your eyes on the ocean. Oh, and a Dodger game! World Series Champs 2020!!!Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to my resilient makeup community. Thank you for your support during this wild time! Lip Lūffa was created for you. Every purchase, referral, post and message makes me happy dance!
