Meet Ofer Yakov | Creative Director and Owner of a video production company in Los Angeles

I have a combined reach of 75k followers on social media, I am very active on Instagram, Facebook and lately I started to post more on TikTok.
11 years ago back in Israel, I was exposed to the world of photography for the first time, I picked up my mom’s camera and started to play with that, I was shooting my friends and I riding our dirt bikes, my desire to get better results pushed me to explore more and more about photography and its aesthetics, and in result my passion just got bigger and bigger every day. A year after, I decided to sell my dirt bike and buy my first professional camera – Canon 7D.
Back in 2012, I was drafted Israeli Defense Forces as an army photographer at the age of 18.

I got exposed for the first time in the world of videography. By tackling bigger projects within the army, I developed the skills necessary to become a professional Director and Videographer, at the same time I made a few passion projects that went viral on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram, and started to get exposure and gain followers, also got many offers from brands and companies in Israel to create for them videos similar videos, and eventually after releasing from the army ,back in 2015, I opened my first business for video productions in Israel.

For 3 full years I developed my video production and managed to help many brands to increase their profits and make a bigger impact in Israel, I felt that I’m looking for the next challenge and made the decision to move to Los Angeles. The main reason I wanted to do that was to take my filmmaking career to the next level and surround myself with inspiring and talented people. After officially getting the approval for my artist visa, I ordered a flight ticket and flew by myself to Los Angeles.

I had no future projects or anything booked in Los Angeles but I believed in myself so much. My exceptions were very high from the beginning and I immediately managed to make some great connections and created very cool content with known people in the industry of the filmmaking and the extreme sport which was awesome but unfortunately it wasn’t that profitable like I hoped it would be. I believed in my way and didn’t give up, I kept doing what I love and put my passion over money. After 6 months of me pushing hard everyday, I got to a point that it was seems like I’m about to run out of my savings money and then it happened. All of the doors I invested opened in front of my eyes and everything pays off. I got offers for big scale projects and campaigns and ended up managing huge productions for Dolce & Gabbana, Omega and Red-Bull. I’ve learned through that experience a really important lesson: “You never know how close you are to your goal, never give up and trust the process”

Corona time was a very challenging and unexpected period of time, but it also gave us the opportunity to stop for a moment and think.

Today, I’m very happy in my life position but I definitely feel I can and want to do more. I’m asking myself the right questions; What makes me happy and what makes me less happy, why I started and why I’m doing what I’m doing. By having those answers I’m connecting the dots and working to find the next exciting challenges that will fill my day to day with happiness and Meaning.
