We had the good fortune of connecting with Patti Seelbach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patti, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think the act of risk taking is essential to success. When we stay in our comfort zone, artistically, or even in a literal geographical sense, there is no room for magic.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think I am the most proud of how I make people feel with my art. The biggest joy in my career and life is seeing the eyes of my canvas light up whether it is a bridal glam or editorial look.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned in my career is to never ever stop learning. If it any point it feels like you are done learning or are truly the best of the best then it’s probably time to move on to another endeavor. In my eyes it’s all about striving to be the best, but also recognizing that there’s always room to grow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being born and raised in North Carolina I was spoiled with the mountains and the beach close, so we would absolutely have to take a trip to both of those. Nature is endlessly inspiring and grounding. We would also spend a lot of time in local coffee shops and walking around the art museum.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many wonderful mentors and a beautiful support system I’d love to dedicate this to. Brittany Kroll has been my mentor for the better part of a decade and never ceases to inspire me to work hard but play harder. I also absolutely would not be where I am without my mother. She is truly an angel on earth and my number one supporter. Any altruistic gene in my body is from her.
