We had the good fortune of connecting with Raven France and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raven, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking makes for some of our greatest accomplishments. The ones we were too afraid to take using reason. I took a risk of walking away from a secure income to become a full time entrepreneur. Some call it risk, but I call it Faith. Faith has brought me this far as a full time entrepreneur for a successful year, with no chance of looking back.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a self- taught serial entrepreneur. I went to school for an undergrad in Criminal Justice, when that wasn’t God’s plan for me at all. Along the way I found a love for building relationships on my social platforms with others. I took my social media presences and my extensive knowledge of the ins & outs of the platforms and created my own digital marketing company. Along this journey, I had to prove myself many times as self taught, a minority black girl and no major experience. It was in no way easy, imposter syndrome gets the best of you. I’ve grown so much in this journey and even started another business along the way. I’ve shared my knowledge and expertise with over 400,000 people between my platforms. I want every woman, especially black women, to know that they can do or be anything in this world and no one person, no degree, no self doubt, not a single thing can stop you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I live in Michigan, many people wouldn’t know the city, but everyone knows of Detroit. I was born and raised there, but the real excitement is in Downtown Detroit. With tons of Brunch spots like Le Petit Dejeuner, a super fun outdoor roller skating rink and plenty of shopping. Detroit is home of the luxury Shinola collection. I mostly prefer food and shopping. Big Beaver Rd in Troy is a hot spot where Michigan’s most luxury mall is and an entire strip of 5 star dining.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My boyfriend Marcus Matthews. He has encouraged every dream I’ve had and not because he had to. He’s supported my decision of starting a YouTube channel and helped purchase more than half of my equipment. With my apparel business he bought my most expensive machinery. He helped birth the mission of my most prized business. He’s always told me the potential I held, for the last six years. He believed in me before I ever could. I owe him everything.
