We had the good fortune of connecting with Ravyn (Cravin’Ravyn) Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ravyn (Cravin’Ravyn), what do you want people to remember about you?
As a young , African American entrepreneur I want my legacy to be the taste of my cooking but also the passion behind it. I want people to remember my steps it took to get where I am now. I have worked jobs in my field , I have collaborated with others that share the same field. I have collaborated with just also different LA creatives to grow more. I want people to know that being a chef is not easy I have dealt with the ugly and good side of it but have remembered that this is what makes me and I’m proud of myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Honestly , what sets me apart from others is that I am very based on a lot of from scratch foods like I have my own pasta maker to where I make my own noodles from scratch when it comes to pasta. I also like to think how creative I can get with making meals. I am most proud of recently in August of last year 2022 I had a whole vision of planning a friends version of a family reunion to come together eating a lot of different foods I made and also wearing my business name on shirts and it was the most special thing I ever came up with and came together very well. The way I got where I am today is I honestly just went on a path of going to culinary school , graduating and going straight into jobs in the cooking field , rather it’s been chef position jobs or even prep cook I’ve done them all to see what it like. Every job was not easy but I have grown and learned along the way. I knew once I stepped in this field it would be challenging but that was something I was willing to take on because I love to cook I love the faces on people face once they eat something I make. In this field I have learned , you have to be strong minded , patient , fast paced and very devoted. I want the world to know that I’m working to build my brand even bigger. I want to have my own restaurant and food truck within a few years so more people can experience my food.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A place I would take an friend who was visiting the area would be the STC Gardenwalk , they have plenty to do and it’s a very beautiful scenery. They have a few restaurants and one good one is fire + ice it’s an all you can eat buffet that’s really good with tasty drinks. They also have shopping stores and a club in the shopping plaza. The most fun interesting places to check out would be the world of illusions museum, LA zoo lights , the beach in Palos verdes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout-out Storm Debarge for giving me a shot to get my name more out there in the world. She worked with me one day as a cooking one on one I gave her a insight on what the cooking world is like. I would also like to shoutout my mom Pamela Richardson for pushing me to go to culinary school right after high school and lastly my grandma , Rest in Heaven her name is Catha Mae Richardson just from watching her as I was little , she use to cook a lot in her home all day everyday and would feed her neighborhood.
