We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Rapoport-Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Studio GRC was born out of the philosophy that artists do their best work when they are fully supported and invested in. I believe the magic happens when performing artists receive first-rate, expert guidance from a coach who is 100% dedicated to their success.
When starting Studio GRC, my goal was to take all my experience as a professional singer, actor and educator and offer aspiring and established performers a space where they can come and work both on their craft and their career goals.
At Studio GRC, I have the pleasure of working with a range of performers including those auditioning on Broadway, songwriters recording their first album and high school students new to singing and performing.
Studio GRC continues to grow and attract artists looking to fully develop their talent and career, which makes my job tremendously rewarding and always challenging in the best of ways.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started as a competitive pianist at the age of 6, began singing in high school, did my undergrad and masters in music and have been working as a professional musician and actor ever since. I have never not been an artist and in every career path I imagined myself following, art was always the guiding principle: Not being a full time artist was never an option.
Furthermore, a career that included teaching and performing was always the goal. It was never one or the other and having the balance of both has allowed me to do many of the things I am so passionate about on a daily basis and I am very aware of how very lucky I am.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just moved to a new city (Hello, Chicago!) and am finding my way around. So far, the food here is incredible, as is the architecture and the many beaches right downtown (!). If anyone reading has a Chicago “must see” list, please send it my way!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my Shoutout to my students who continue to inspire me daily with their drive, positivity, commitment, and authenticity.
