Meet Rinisha Lohani | Martial arts player

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rinisha Lohani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rinisha, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
In sports this is the way to check whether to keep going or to give up , if you have opted a sport so it definitely needs a constant practice of it to become perfect in that sport but before choosing any sport you have to be sure that you have your interest in it because without interest or by anyone forcing you cannot do any sport you need your motivation to do your best for performing in further tournaments. Starting can be hard as you are a beginner you need to learn many techniques and need a lot of training but once you’re trained well have a good knowledge of your sport it becomes intresting, don’t give up by playing any match sometimes you win and sometimes you loose so it doesn’t mean you’re bad in that there are some things which you’ve missed this time but you have learned for next time so never to give up just stay focused, motivated and constant in it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is driven by discipline, dedication, and a constant desire to grow. Being in sports has taught me the value of consistency, mental strength, and believing in myself even during difficult times. I am a 2-time Ju-Jitsu National Gold Medalist, Vovinam National Bronze Medalist, Khelo India North Zone Wushu Bronze Medalist, and a 3-time Wushu National Player.
These achievements are not just medals for me—they represent years of hard work, sacrifices, and learning. My journey hasn’t been easy, but every challenge has shaped me into a stronger athlete and person. Through my story, I want to inspire others to stay focused, trust the process, and never give up on their dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Haldwani holds a very special place in my heart. I originally lived in Nainital, but after my father’s transfer, we moved to Haldwani—and that change turned out to be life-changing for me. This city gave me the opportunity to truly pursue my sport, grow as an athlete, and chase my dreams seriously.
If a friend were visiting, I would show them the peaceful side of Haldwani, the lively local markets, and the training grounds where so many dreams are built. The city has a calm yet energetic vibe that keeps me motivated and grounded. For me, Haldwani isn’t just a city—it’s where my real journey began.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my parents, who believed in me even before I believed in myself. They were the ones who introduced me to sports, supported my dreams, and stood by me through every challenge, sacrifice, and milestone. Their constant encouragement, patience, and unconditional love have shaped not just my journey as an athlete, but also the person I am today.
I also want to express my deepest gratitude to my coach, Vinod Lakhera, whose guidance, discipline, and belief in my potential have played a huge role in my growth. His mentorship has pushed me to become stronger—mentally and physically—and to always strive for excellence. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support and dedication.
