We had the good fortune of connecting with Romy Devack and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Romy, what do you attribute your success to?
I, more or less, started my brand by accident. After my father passed away from cancer in September 2014, I wanted to do something special for my mom’s first birthday without him. I had this crazy idea of turning his signature into a diamond necklace and was fortunate to have a dear family friend who was a jeweler help make this possible. Needless to say, the gift was a success and my mom was beside herself when she saw it for the first time. Over the next several months, I received requests from family and friends to create their own special pieces. I knew I had something and that’s when I decided to take the risk and launch SINCERELY on September 29, 2016. I realized that it was the perfect way for me to honor my dad and help others do the same with their loved ones. All of our designers are made to order and designed using someone’s actual handwriting / signature, making the pieces extremely personal and sentimental. Whether it be someone celebrating the birth of a new baby, honoring a loved one lost, or just wanting a modern day nameplate in their own personal writing, these pieces bring so much joy to my customers because of the incredible stories attached. I think this is the most important factor behind my success and the success of the brand.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think what makes my business different and sets it apart from other jewelry companies are the stories that are connected to the pieces. Each and every piece is designed using someone’s actual handwriting, something that is so specific to that person, making the sentiment behind the pieces as meaningful as it gets. These pieces aren’t just pretty things for people to look at – they hold such significance to people wearing them. It’s a way to keep those you love the most with you at all times. I am so proud of the fact that I’ve created a business that holds such meaning. I think that’s why it’s grown to what it is today. I speak to every single person who orders something from me. I learn about them. I hear their stories and because of that, we connect in a way that isn’t possible when you just click and add to cart. Nothing is ever easy in life, especially building a business that you didn’t know that much about beforehand. But if it’s worth it, then you will figure it out and make it work. I get to spend every single day honoring my dad and my client’s loved ones. If I’m ever feeling down or frustrated, I take a second to remember that. And that’s what keeps me going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to give a big shoutout to the three most supportive people in my life – my mom, brother and boyfriend. Without the three of them, I don’t know that I would have made it this far in running my own business. They have been there every step of the way and are my biggest cheerleaders. I love them a lot! Secondly, I want to give a shoutout to my manufacturing team. I was introduced to them almost 4 years ago and then have become family to me. SINCERELY’s quality is 100% due to their passion for jewelry and the care they take in creating each piece. I am very very grateful for them. Lastly, I want to give a shoutout to my customer’s. Because without them, I truly wouldn’t be where I am today. Their trust and support in me and the brand I have built mean the world to me.
