Meet Roxanne + Bradley Reitler: Co-Founders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Roxanne + Bradley Reitler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roxanne + Bradley, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Owning a business means making a lot of personal sacrifices. When we first started, it wasn’t uncommon to work from the moment we woke up until the moment we went to bed. For us, that just seemed like the normal thing to do in order to get this business off the ground. As we grew, we were slowly able to find more balance in our lives. When we compare where we are today with where we were when we started, we are happy. We now take a day off for ourselves, which we did not do two years back.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We believe that eating healthy should not have to come at the cost of deliciousness; specifically, when it comes to dessert. Our goal is to make products that are as tasty as they are good for your body. We feel proud when someone who is not vegan, or even particularly interested in a healthy dessert option voluntarily chooses to eat our products over a candy bar, or a regular old slice of cake simply because they think our products tastes better. Again, the goal is to make something that you wouldn’t have to settle for, but that you would happily choose. We are where we are today because we never gave up. Starting a business from the ground up is brutal, but we believe so strongly in why we do what we do that it has helped carry us through the peaks and valleys of running a business. It has never been easy, but we don’t think that it necessarily should be. Running a business requires you to be constantly adapting, and in todays environment, that is more important than ever. We overcome the challenges by staying focused on our goals and working together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We definitely would give our shoutout to Roxanne’s mom. She might as well be our third partner in this business. She has done everything from help us source ingredients to letting us use her house as a storage facility for all of our supplies that we can’t fit in our production facility, and the list goes on. You name it, she has been there helping us in very significant ways every step of the process. We wouldn’t be where we are without her.
