Hi Sarahi “Stephanie”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Hailing from Los Altos de Jalisco, the heart of tequila country, my passion for agave spirits grew alongside me. After honing my craft for eight years behind the bar, a four-year exploration of Mexico reconnected me with my heritage and the vibrant world of traditional cocktails.

One trend I couldn’t ignore was the abundance of overly sweet Mexican drinks. These creations often masked the true, well-balanced character of tequila and mezcal. It felt like a missed opportunity!

Living in Sonoma County for over 20 years, I saw a local gap – a demand for less-sweet margaritas and a lack of mobile cocktail bars. Inspired by my 2022 trip back to Mexico, Mexology Bar Co. was born in a flash of creativity.

Now, I’m excited to share my love for agave spirits and expertly crafted cocktails. We showcase not just tequila and mezcal, but also favorites like pisco, vodka, and bourbon. Every ingredient gets its due, resulting in balanced drinks that allow the spirit’s unique flavors to take center stage. Mexology Bar Co. is more than just drinks; it’s a celebration of culture and the rich flavors I hold dear.

This journey wouldn’t be the same without the incredible small business owners I’ve met along the way. They’ve provided endless support, connections, and motivation. But there’s one very special person in my family who deserves a huge shoutout: my Tia Carmela.

Tia Carmela is a powerhouse woman I deeply admire. She came to this country with nothing – a single mom with 3 kids and no English. Against all odds, she learned not just English, but also Italian! Her entrepreneurial spirit is awe-inspiring. She built a successful market and even owned two restaurants in the San Francisco financial district.

Tia Carmela is more than just family; she’s my biggest supporter, mentor, and cheerleader. I can always count on her to listen to my crazy ideas, no matter how out there they might seem. And she’s always there to celebrate my successes, big or small.
