We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaman Elysia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elysia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say it’s two things; experience and understanding.
For one, I have a lot of experience relating to others and myself. I have grown up traveling to different countries, and throwing myself into workshops, retreats, events, and any and every space that was designed for vulnerability, sharing, and growth. Because I have been in so many spaces while sharing space with people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, all ages, and so forth, it allowed me to see the common thread and patterns that we all face on the human path.
From consistently challenging myself from the time I was 18, to throwing myself into many team and coaching scenarios where I could get support around my own blindspots, it allowed me to become extremely self aware and hyper vigilant on my growth, my healing, and my capacity to lead while connecting to others. This lead to my understanding of self as well as my understanding of others.
For years I would literally walk around minding my own business and people (strangers, acquaintances, co-workers, friends) would constantly come up to me and tell me all their secrets and deepest issues. People would share such vulnerable parts of themselves with me and say they felt so much better after speaking to me. Then fast forward to today, when I have sessions with clients, I will ask them a question, hear their response, and then I will paint a picture of what they are experiencing and ask if that is true for them. Every single time, they have told me ” Wow, that’s exactly how I feel! You articulated it better than I could have because I didn’t have the words!” That is the power of doing “the work.” That is the power of understanding.
When people feel understood, they feel heard. When people feel heard, they feel connected. When they feel connected, they feel safe. In a world with so much going on, it’s vital we create and have spaces where we feel heard and safe. As humans, we were made for connecting and sharing our emotions. With what I do, I create and provide a safe space for others to heal and transmute whatever it is that is keeping them stuck or holding them back in one way or another. By understanding where my clients are at, emotionally, mentally, physically, and emotionally, it allows me to give them a crystal clear road map of what is the best route for them specifically based on where they are at and what they want. If we don’t understand who we are talking to, how can we best serve and guide them?
That is what makes me so proud to have the business that I do! I love providing a space where others feel seen in ways they never have before. It is deeply profound and moving.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my business 2 years ago after I had spent a year transitioning from my spiritual awakening. It’s amazing how life can guide you on a path for so long and you may not even realize it until you are looking back on it. Once I made the choice to step into this world of healing, I was able to see that my spirit was guiding me to be a shamanic healer even since I was born.
One day I will share my whole and complete story, but for now, I am so proud that I am here. I don’t believe anything built of high quality, high caliber, and greatness is easy. It takes time, discipline, extreme faith, dedication, belief in yourself, CONSISTENCY, and major confidence to create and run a business. It took years of working in other spaces, for other companies, running and failing in other businesses, and a ton of personal growth and self development (I am talking 10+ years of non stop retreats, programs, events, workshops, etc) to do what I do today.
I have learned many lessons along the way however the message that feels the strongest at the moment, it’s to trust yourself. NO ONE knows you and what you are capable of better than yourself. Sometimes we are taught to give our power away to others who may “know more” or “are more successful;” however the truth is, only WE can put limits on ourselves, and if we trust ourselves we can be that spark in the world that makes a unique difference, because we are here to be our unique and authentic selves. THAT is where our truest power lies.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are too many beautiful places in LA I wouldn’t know where to begin!
I love nature so the first stop would be a beach (I personally love the Malibu and Manhattan Beaches) or a forest or trail to hike (There are a TON in LA, and some with waterfalls) !
There are really cool events with food trucks so I would opt for that or go to a nice restaurant with a nice ambience and view. There are a ton of great places in LA with that vibe. What I love about LA is that everything is here. There is something here for everyone and the area is so vast that you can really get it all out here. There are so many hidden gems all over!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give many shout outs! I would love to give a major one to my mother, who is an enormous support of mine who I credit much of my success to. She is the reason I am the woman I am today.
