We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamar Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamar, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is; “To be on time is to be late and to be early is to be on time” to me it means exactly what it says… to show up earlier than you were supposed to.

I like that it’s a straight to the point quote.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I made it here by putting in the work. I studied at various different acting studios virtually through zoom! As an actor you have to hone your skill and I feel like a lot of actors don’t and just rely on there natural raw talent.

It wasn’t easy getting here, I believe it’s never easy for any artist to get where they want to be in life. I’ve been rejected A LOT and still get rejected but it comes with territory within this industry.

I overcame a lot of the obstacles I went through just by fighting & pushing through and continuing to tell myself why I started in acting in the first place, my struggles, and the way that me and my family grew up. All of that lets me know that I can’t give up or just quit because it’s just one opportunity behind that door for me that could change my life forever.

Lessons I’ve learned along the way is to definitely DO YOUR RESEARCH on EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY. It’s extremely important that we know what something is or who someone is, we need to know if they’re legit. One more lesson I’ve learned is to always be PROFESSIONAL no matter where we are in this industry and just in life period.

I want the world to know that I truly love who I am, how I am, and how I shifted into the person I am today. I am a happy to announce I am apart of the LGBTQIA community. As a queer Actor and Dancer my main goal is to impact those who aren’t in the community and those who are in the community to strive to be great and to just have fun and DO THE WORK.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d first take them to one of my dance events just to let them get a feel of what it’s like to be in the environment of the dance scene and of course to watch me battle.

We’d eat out and go to Denny’s that’s literally my family breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot.

I’m really a inside type of person lol unless you catch me on a good day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to thank my mom for helping me in my career every step of the way whether it was paying for my acting classes, wardrobe, my self tape equipment and more. She definitely has made a huge impact on my career and I love her dearly!

I would love to shout-out my boyfriend for always being my reader and helping me when I didn’t feel my best in my auditions. He’s a very great guy and he cares about my well being as well as my mental health that comes with this industry.

Two very special people I would love to shout-out is Lauren Darlene and her mother Scarlett for paying my expenses to get out to Los Angeles, CA so I could film for my first ever TV NETWORK SHOW. They made sure I was well fed, clothed, and Lauren has been helping me with my audition self tapes.
