We had the good fortune of connecting with Shane Shiloh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shane, what role has risk played in your life or career?I’ve always been delusional in all aspects of my life and when it comes to risk taking, there’s no exception there. Everything that’s wholesome and transpired in my life that’s granted me favor has always come from me taking a risk and believing in myself despite the odds. One major recent risk that I took was moving to one of the most intimidating and arduous cities to make it in. Wanna take a wild guess? Here’s a hint: you’ll pay $1800 to live in a pantry….Ding Ding!! Yep, you got it! Los Angeles, California haha. The land of the stars and where all dreams come true, so they say. I moved from Detroit, MI which is and will always be home but I felt a bit stagnate and knew I needed to change the ecosystem around me and live out my life in a new city to sprout and grow as a person.
I couldn’t think of a better way to challenge myself as a person and actor than to move to the entertainment capital of the world and give it my all. Everyday I wake up and I’m surrounded by actors, directors, writers, producers and people who all have the same ambitions as me and it’s honestly so exhilarating and inspiring.
I have been mesmerized since the day I touched down. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else at this current time in my journey. I’m glad I stepped out on faith and trusted GOD that this is where I was supposed to be. The biggest risk you can take in life is not taking any at all. Nothing revolutionary ever happened in anybody’s life that held on to the side of the pool. It’s those individuals who jump in head first and see how deep it is, that always eventually rise to the surface to greater opportunities and invigorating life ahead. I’m doing so many things now like getting flown out to different states for bookings, working with major brands and doing grown up stuff that I would of never done. Like I made my own dentist appointment last month…who would’ve ever thought I’d do something like that ha!
To leave you with one of my favorite quotes about risk taking. “The Three C’s Of Life: Choices, Chances and Changes. You must make a choice to take a chance or your life will never change.”
Get out there and take a risk people. I promise you, it’s so worth it. – Shane Shiloh
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My professional life as an artist consists of me doing voiceover work, acting for TV commercials, films, print work and even the most moisturized hands of all time get the spotlight with me hand modeling also.
Fear is a word that rarely pairs well with me which is a blessing but can also be a curse at times. What I feel sets me apart from everyone else is my undeniable yearning to constantly put myself out there and try new things. The entertainment industry is vast and humongous. There’s so many avenues you can go down to exercise that creative muscle. I will always strive to continue to touch every surface of it. No one will ever make me feel insecure about trying something. I did it and now there’s no wisha shoulda couldas. Life goes on and I feel that’s my biggest superpower in my early stages of success.
I have always been a very creative and abstract individual from the moment I entered this earth. When I was a child I used to always play with pencils in school with sound effects included and even when I tried to hide it, the kids in school still would catch me sometimes and would always make fun of me and thought I was weird ha! What they saw was a boy flailing around with pencils and pens but what was right in front of me through my eyes was an alien invasion that I was fighting off with only one arm and a bazooka to save the planet. This creative spirit never left me as I aged and I found outlets to help me express it beyond the pencils. Now I write scripts with that same passion I had as a child transferred to the paper. The pencils are still occasionally in my hand from time to time though let me not cap haha.
In short, those people who thought you were a weirdo judging a gift only you can see and understand at that moment. Might just have to watch you one day, look back and wish they would have let themselves be a little weirdo like you too ha!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooo now if I’m my friend’s chauffeur for the day the first thing we have to do of course in LA is hit the beach. My favorite beaches are definitely in the Laguna area. Laguna beaches are just so tranquil and the water sparkles like diamonds.
After all that sand infiltrates our clothes we gotta grab a bite and my favorite restaurant in that area is Rumari with Italian food that will make you slap ya momma! Sorry mom.
Then after the pasta settles we gotta head to Runyon Canyon for a hike! Is it really a LA trip without a hike and murdering your ankles?!?!
After we reach the top of the Canyon we gotta hit the town. The club scene and nightlife in Los Angeles is mesmerizing. For a mellow late night out I would take my friend to Firefly in Studio City. The ambience is beyond classy and so swanky. The wine is next level quality and fine cuisines that will make your tastebuds float to heaven.
Last but not least, definitely try to get them on a TV show that they enjoy for an audience viewing and head to the Hollywood stars. You can’t come to the land of the stars and not see a few in person!
Then see yaaaa! Get on back to LAX so I can do my auditions in peace ha!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I need to thank our heavenly father for protecting me and only giving me things when I’m truly ready to receive them. I appreciate all the blessings you have placed upon my life. Continue to use me for your will as none of this is tangible without your sovereignty.
Now of course we have to extend a huge shoutout to what I like to call her, my SPEED BUMP ha! But formally what most of the human race calls them is my mom. I say she’s my speed bump because whenever I’m going too fast she’s always there to slow me down before I crash. Regardless if I feel like listening at that moment haha. My mom is my light that I always look for when I’m in the dark and my biggest supporter that will always be front row at the venue.
Anyone that doesn’t have the opportunity to experience a mom like I have, I feel the deepest sorrows for. Ty is her name and she has always been supportive to help me thrive in this field. Even if she didn’t know what to do to help me progress, you better believe she would put me in spaces to gain the knowledge myself! I might pop up on TV screens and my voice might be heard across airwaves but she’s the true star of this story whose name needs to be shining in the marquee lights. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.
Love you momma -Your favorite
