We had the good fortune of connecting with Shariece Paschal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shariece, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I realized there was a need for an open discussion regarding mental health specifically in motherhood. I became a first-time mom back in September 2020 and I had no idea how much my mental health took a toll. That forced me to create a lane and community where I talk about the struggles with mental health in my motherhood journey. To my surprise there are so many other moms who have dealt or are dealing with the same thing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It all depends on what they are looking for.
For one I absolutely love the water, so I am a big beach girl. I am also a true foodie so for soul food I love Dulans off Manchester. For brunch I love going to Blu Jam Cafe on Melrose. If I want a great ambiance, I love Moonshadows in Malibu. It is right next to the water and the food is amazing. Also, I recently went to the California African American Museum with my family, and I loved it.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God who set aside this path for me. Also ,my daughter deserves a lot of the credit. This idea was birthed as soon as she came into the world. Motherhood forced me to deal with my anxiety. After having her I became fearless and realized I should not and could not be ashamed on speaking up about mental health. I also must shoutout my husband for his support and encouraging me for stepping out of my comfort zone and the amazing support of my friends and family.
