Meet Sharon Caruso | Curly Hair Sculpter & Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharon Caruso and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was deeply influenced by my upbringing. Growing up in a household of entrepreneurs, I was constantly exposed to conversations about innovation, risk-taking, and independence. I saw firsthand how much passion and personal integrity could be poured into a business. That inspired me to envision a future where I could build something of my own—something that not only reflects who I am but also aligns with my values.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a hairstylist for 19 years has taught me far more than just artistic techniques — it’s taught me valuable life lessons that I’ll nurture for a lifetime. This journey has guided me toward being of service to others, becoming a more present listener, and building deeply meaningful relationships.
What sets me apart is the way I see hairstyling as more than just a service — it’s a sacred exchange of energy. To place your hands on someone, to be trusted with their self-expression, is a powerful act. When that connection is rooted in safety and vulnerability, magic happens. That magic is the essence of Curls by Caruso.
How did I get to where I am today? It’s been a path shaped by evolution — personal, emotional, and professional. Life has been my greatest teacher. It wasn’t always easy — and I laugh because there’s no simple way to sum it up. But the truth is, the hardest parts of the journey were also the most transformative. The challenges fueled my growth, discipline, and resilience, and helped me forge an independent path as both a woman and a professional.
Being a stylist often feels like being part therapist, part life coach — and that’s something I honor. I believe love and vulnerability are keys to success, not just in business, but in life. When we love freely and show up with authenticity, we align with something bigger than ourselves — we create culture. That culture is the heartbeat of my brand.
I want the world to know that Curls by Caruso is more than a business — it’s a movement rooted in self-love, transformation, and connection.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a loved one were visiting, I’d definitely plan a trip to one of California’s beautiful beach towns — maybe Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara, La Jolla Cove, In La Jolla or Sunset Cliffs Beach, San Diego. We’d turn it into a two- to three-night stay filled with fun, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Between the salt caves, spa retreats, sunsets on the beach, and a healthy, flavorful dinner, it would be pure bliss. I love being in nature, especially near the ocean. Salt water is both healing and breathtaking. One of my favorite things to do is explore the shoreline for shells and minerals — it’s a way for me to feel more grounded and connected to the Earth’s natural beauty.
We’d definitely add a bit of adventure with some coastal hiking trails and tide pool exploration. California’s coastline is full of hidden treasures, and the tide pools are something I’ve been wanting to experience more — I’ve heard the marine life is incredible, and there’s even the chance to swim alongside some of these spectacular creatures.
Food-wise, I’d make sure to share my love for Mexi-Cali cuisine — it’s one of my all-time favorite flavor profiles. Each city along the coast has its go-to taco and margarita spots, and discovering those little gems is part of the fun.
While I usually start with a loose plan, I love to stay open to spontaneity. If something unexpected and exciting comes up along the way, I welcome the adventure. That’s what makes the experience truly unforgettable.
