We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefani Beckerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stefani, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I would say taking risks is absolutely essential to building anything. Big swings enable you to breakthrough and grow to new levels. You must have faith in the process and believe without a shadow of doubt you’ll get where you’re aiming, and you need to create the structure to support your big jumps. That support can look like so many different things. Learning to trust yourself and understanding how to listen deeply to the wisdom of life and empower decision-making is important. Surrounding yourself with talented, value-aligned people who work together to ground the vision and land the big leap is crucial.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I get to build things that help people live happier and healthy lives, in a variety of ways. Whether it’s a holistic-yelp type platform, a one-stop retail shop for all things healthy living, marketing for clean beauty brands, or writing about lifestyle tips and tricks in my own shorthand. I feel like I’m here to serve the greater good, I love it and am so grateful it’s my purpose. Currently I head up Consumer Engagement for a company with many health and wellness brands that have been around for 50 years – the OG in the space which is really really cool (Heritage Store, Life-Flo, Aubrey, Theraneem, Solaray, etc). I absolutely love my position and get to be creative, work with inspiring people I look up to, and provide amazing clean beauty and holistic rituals to people at scale. Before this I had a boutique consulting business specializing in growing wellness brands, and was building a wellness app with a retail component. Right now, I feel in the best place I’ve ever been and it was definitely not easy. I’m currently writing a book about healing and transformation that I hope to be a blueprint for others who are excited to go on that journey. What it took to get here: A lot of debt, financial insecurity – literally losing everything, heartbreak, stress that triggered real health problems, looking at all my shit and taking a lot of ownership for stuff that did not feel good to see, many, MANY tears, sobriety and a few other things that helped me let go and restart. What it taught me: vulnerability, gratitude, acceptance, non-judgement, presence, being, calmness, forgiveness, self-love and the extent of my own power.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I mean…. Erewhon all day everyday. But in between, Malibu to Silverlake –> Lucky’s, Nobu, Sun Life, Tallulah’s, Gjelina, Scopa, Hatchet Hall, Moon Juice, Izakaya, Pace, Kismet. We’d hike Mandeville canyon and Lake Hollywood. We’d see live music – there are so many amazing venues out here and drink martini’s with High West organic vodka and buy “Joy” from MedMen. When we needed down time we’d listen to music and relax at my cousin Eric and Kim’s pool because it’s my happy place and you will feel the vibes!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel so grateful to have an abundance of teachers, mentors and uplifters in my life! People who have always seen and encouraged me even when I doubted myself. Everything amazing always comes through someone I’m connected to. My trusted team of friends, family, and colleagues have taught me so much about the world, myself, life, love and everything in between. They’ve supported me when I quite literally, couldn’t support myself, and they always, always have my back. They all know who they are and I thank my lucky stars every single day that I am so blessed to have such amazing people in my life!
