We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefanie Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stefanie, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be contributing to reducing the statistics on overweight and obese Americans, improve mental wellness, and create a thriving and supportive wellness community.
People will remember me by making healthy living simple and easy to meet their needs. Healthy living is not about looking a certain way or being accepted by others. It’s all about how you value yourself and taking care of your mental, physical, and spiritual needs to thrive.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Stefanie Roberts Wellness (SRW) is modern day health coaching that takes a holistic approach by aligning your physical, mental, and spiritual health through group seminars, one-on-one coaching, corporate wellness events, and building community. I beleive we are all interconnected and when one of these elements are out of alignment, it affects other areas of your life.
I realized the importance of aligning your mind, body, and soul because in the past, I was only focusing on nourishing the body with physical activity, but I still wasn’t happy. It wasn’t until I started working on my nutrition, mental health, and spiritual health (the connections to be seen, to be heard, and to matter) to really feel happy and accept my authentic self. I used to looked for external validation when it should come within.
My journey to starting SRW has been a long time coming. I’ve always been active and competitive athlete for a large part of my life. I didn’t realize that I could take my passions and make it into a career. I also didn’t think I was good enough or knowledgable enough (which was far from the truth!) to be a health and fitness coach because I didn’t look the part.
I’ve thought about becoming a health and fitness coach for the last 10 years. I would take small baby steps such as personal training clients, but never took it further than that. Finally this past year, I made the leap and became a health and fitness coach full time!
What drove me to start SRW was experiencing so many times people saying how they don’t know how to live healthy, they don’t have time for it, or they just don’t know where to start. I help people see past all of their obstacles and fears by taking a simple approach that allows you to go at your own pace that fits your unique needs. I’m all about the small and sustainable changes for a lasting impact (sorry, no quick fixes here!).
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a native South Bay mama, I’m all about supporting local businesses in the area. So when my bestie is visting me for a long week trip, we’d of course start off with a beach workout and then meditate while listening to the ocean waves. We’d walk over to The Punch Bowl for a nourishing smoothie and then make our way over to Manhattan Beach Post for lunch. Of course we can’t forget to pop into the beachy shops for some cute and unique surprises (such as Gum Tree, the Beehive, and Kalihi). In the late afternoon we’d get spa treatments at DuBunne’ Spa and end the night watching a rooftop movie at Rooftop Cinema Club El Segundo.
Throughout the week we’d check out these local resturants and farmer’s market:
-Painter’s Tape in Gardena
-Kotosh in Torrance
-TheTamale Man in Torrance
– Torrance Farmer’s market on Tuesday’s and Saturday’s (and visit Southwest Bread’s booth – the sunflower sourdough loaf is scrumptious!)
And we’ll fit in these wellness activities:
– Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades
– Hike in Palos Verdes (Ocean Trails is one of my favs for the ocean views!)
– Riviera Health Spa
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This shoutout goes to my number one supporter – my husband Verlon Roberts. He’s helped me cultivate my gift and passions of helping others live a healthier and fulfilling life. He always reminds me that we only have this one precious life, so why not make the best of it and do the things that make us happy – even if it seems scary or impossible to do. I’d also like to thank my family, friends, and HeyMama moms for their continued support on this journey! So much of my love and gratitude goes out to them!
