Meet Stephen Thomas | Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephen, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I see risk as an opportunity to learn, innovate, and reach new heights. As a young man and entrepreneur, my mother instilled in us the belief that “you never know if something will succeed unless you try.” I’ve always embraced that mindset, willing to take risks in both life and business.
As a young artist growing up in the entertainment industry, I was often labeled a “risk-taker.” Many industry veterans saw me as ambitious yet strategic and smart, both as an artist and a businessman. Sometimes, I would tell my peers, “You guys wait—I’ll try it out first,” because I didn’t want them to bear the losses. I knew many of them had families—wives, children, and others who depended on them—while I didn’t have those responsibilities. So, I would step up and take the risk.
It’s just a part of who I am—a person who genuinely cares.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is deeply rooted in authenticity and connection. As a five-time Grammy-considered artist, I focus on creating music that not only resonates but also inspires. What sets me apart is my dedication to staying true to myself and my craft, blending influences like Yungblud, MGK, and 2000s alternative vibes with my own unique sound. I’m especially proud of songs like Back Home and Stay Strong, which have charted on major playlists, trended globally, and connected with listeners on a deeply personal level.
Getting to where I am today professionally has been anything but easy. The entertainment industry is tough, but I’ve always approached it with a strategic mindset and a willingness to take risks. Early in my career, I was advised to stay true to who I am, and that advice has guided me through every challenge. Overcoming obstacles required perseverance, faith, and a strong support system, including my mentors and my incredible team.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success isn’t just about talent—it’s about hard work, staying genuine, and being willing to put yourself out there. My brand is built on the idea of resilience and hope, and I want the world to know that no matter the challenges they face, they can overcome them. That’s why songs like Stay Strong—an anthem for troops, those battling autoimmune diseases, mental health struggles, and life’s hardships—mean so much to me.
Ultimately, my goal is to inspire people, not just with my music but with my story. I want to be a voice for those who need encouragement, showing them that it’s possible to rise above and reach new heights. My music is more than entertainment—it’s a message, a movement, and a reminder that the fight isn’t over yet. Stay strong.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Los Angeles, I’d mix iconic spots, hidden gems, and some summer adventure. We’d start with breakfast at The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker, then head to Griffith Observatory for views and a hike. A beach day would include biking the Venice boardwalk, paddleboarding in Marina del Rey, and dinner at The Lobster.
We’d explore downtown with The Broad Museum, lunch at Grand Central Market, and rooftop drinks at Perch. For adventure, we’d try jet skiing in Malibu before relaxing at El Matador Beach. And we’d head over to the studio and vibe out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a heartfelt shoutout to my parents, Stephen and Freda Thomas, who taught me to be the man I am today. They provided me with a strong foundation and the essential values needed to live a good life, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
There are many others who have also had a significant impact on my life. While the list is too long to name everyone, they know who they are, and I truly appreciate them all.
