We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steve, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Shave and Co. Helps provide jobs, and it helps bring character to a beautiful concrete jungle community. I wanted to create a place were people from all parts of the world and different cities can come together and forget about everything going on in the world and just relax, listen to some good music, watch sports, have a complimentary drink and laugh at some barber Jokes this is also a Kid-friendly barbershop we are—all Family. Thanks
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business we are L.A’s number one stop for straight razor hot towel shaves. What sets us apart from others is that we specialize in the art of shaving. Our technique and our preparation that goes into each shave are the best in town. I am proud of my team. We are like a family here at Shave and co Barbershop. We are always busy and have so much passion and love for our craft. I got here with a Dream and an idea mixed with passion, hard work, and persistence.
No, it was never easy trying to build a business and work long hours and also be there for my two soccer boys and wife. It wasn’t easy. I missed a lot of games and back to school nights
But if you want something for your family and your future, you have to keep working hard and Never give up.
I want the world to know that I wanted to create a barbershop social club for barbers and clients, a place where you feel like we are all friends no color lines, a place where you get greeted with a smile and a pound or a handshake and after you get a fresh cut and shave you leave feeling like a million bucks.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I would bring them to my barbershop to get a fresh L.A haircut at Shave And Co. Then I would take them to eat at some Tacos and burritos at the famous Tito’s Tacos in Culver City.
Then I would take him to Hermosa beach for some beers and catch the laker game at Sharkeez.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Working for a big corporation like The art of shaving as a regional barber trainer for eight years before opening my shop has taught me a lot about product knowledge, scheduling and quality service. Also, I credit my family my wife she’s a big support behind my success.
