We had the good fortune of connecting with steve Kechichian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi steve, how do you think about risk?
If you dont take risk you will never grow. A lot of people are afraid to take risk because of failure. But in order to succeed you will fail over and over. Failure is not a bad thing. Failure is part of success and its the greatest teacher of all time. At the age of 27 when I opened my Real estate company a lot of people told me not to. They said I didnt have the experience to run my own company and they said its a lot of liabilities. But those same people who gave me the advice never ran a company on their own. So I started asking for advice from people who succeeded at what I wanted to do and I took the risk to follow my dreams. I knew the risk I was taking by starting my own company but the risk of me failing didnt stop me to purse my passion and go all in. In 2019 I started my own mortgage company ( addition to my real estate company) same thing happened a lot of people kept telling me its not worth it, but I did it anyway and both my companies were the best decisions I have ever made because I was willing to take the risk and kept moving forward no matter how many times I kept failing. We have over 18 agents and keep growing. 2020 was the best year so far and 2021 is looking better. Calculated risk, discipline, and never give up attitude will always pay off.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets us apart from other companies is the culture we have. We are not a typical/ traditional brokerage. We provide our agents mentorship, training, and 100% commission. We are always hiring experienced agents and want to help them grow their business. Our goal is to increase our agents production by at least 50% in their first year of joining. We have a system that works as long as the agents put in the work. I had a lot of challenges I had to overcome. I had no experience just like any new realtor. I had to learn from all my mistakes and I started learning from other successful agents. I started reading books, watching youtube videos and applying all the information and knowledge I was learning. I started seeing results and I created a system based on the plan I followed that helped me become a successful agent. Some of the lessons I learned along the way is you have to prepare your day a night before. You cannot wake up and think about what your day is going to be. Relationship is the most important thing in our business and a lot of people are not good at building new relationship. I woulnt be where I am without the help of my customers/inner circle . I knew in order to grow I needed to build new relationship. Try to fill up your calendar as much as possible. As a realtor its hard to fill out your calendar every day but you have to get creative and connect with people through your database, social media, and sphere of influence. Figure out how you can help other business owners grow in order for them to help you grow. Provide value for your customer whether its updating them on the current market or doing first time home buyer seminars or free home evaluations. The key is to always be IN front of your clients to get referrals or for them to think of you as the go to Realtor I want people to know that your dream is possible as long as you are willing to put in the work and have patience to get it. I came from nothing to something and every time I reach a milestone I always say to myself “Im only getting started” I always keep raising the bar. Signature Fine Estates Inc (my company) is not for every agent. It is for experience agents that are closing 4+ deals a year that are independent and want to create their own brand instead of relying on their company brand. As a Realtor You are your own brand and I always tell agents to focus on their own personal brand not the company brand. People will hire you for YOU not your company. These days you dont need an office to run your real estate business you can work from home and still have a very successful business. As long as you provie value to your clients and market place you will be sucecssful.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well due to covid a lot of places are obivously closed but I will assume there was no covid (lol) I would take my best friend to Universal studios, the beach, Newport beach balboa island rent a boat , bars and restaurant in LA.
