We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Jokic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamara, why did you pursue a creative career?
I believe that art and creativity give us a place to express, grow and explore all the intricate details of human existence. It is very important to stay connected to all kinds of sources of creativity, so I believe that writing, listening to music, composing, reading, attending theater plays and different festivals are all empowering us in many different ways.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I come from Serbia, a small European country with a lot of tradition. However, I also spent significant time in Spain and Portugal and lived in the United States for several years. I would say that my main point of reference, both in my life and in my art, is the multicultural and diverse aspect of all the influences gathered. From the Middle East, Eastern Europe, through the Western part of Europe and the United States, with a pinch of influences from North Africa, I have gathered many lovely stories and memories.

The biggest lesson: always strive to do better, believe in yourself because if you do not, no one else will.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, my friends and everyone that crossed path with me in my musical and creative journey.
