We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Newbould-Del Pozzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanya, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Being an Entrepreneur, I had the false belief that I had to always be on the go, running all over town, here to there and back, never slowing down. Then….Covid hit and the entire world shut down. My days of running came to an abrupt halt. I had to sit in the stillness, turn my pain into pivot and find new ways of being. It was a huge change for me and not one I thought I could embrace. As time slowly moved forward and I sat still, I reconnected to myself and who I am. I began to realize I can accomplish more with less effort. In the stillness, ideas flowed and projects were born. I began writing my memoir of my PPD struggle and the forethought of the documentary “When the Bough Breaks-a documentary about Postpartum Depression.” now available in 70 countries and six languages. I began coaching others which I have always loved to do and realize that I’m good at it. I designed more jewelry for Del Pozzo Jewelry than I ever have, but most importantly, I connected with my daughter. We ate lunch together, played Monopoly, swam, went on long walks. I reconnected my love to nature and being outdoors, I journaled and prayed everday. I cooked recipes I had always wanted to try and my husband, daughter and I would have Friday night dance parties in the living room. I sat in the gratitude of simple blessings, food, lodging and most importantly love and family. I no longer take for granted the simple things i my life and I found balance.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My creative brand is Del Pozzo Jewelry. Founded in 2002 because I’ve always loved me some rocks and jewelry, it’s a brand that was evolved over time from simple inexpensive pieces to high end precious, semi-precious stones, opals, pearls and gold. I specialize in unique, one of a kind pieces that I create as I’m inspired. It was my hobbie for many years until it became my business that I focused on. I’ve been blessed to be in such publications as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour UK, Conde’ Naste, Traveller and Gladys magazine as well as being worn on celebrities and showcased twice on “The Price is Right”. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to trust your vision, trust the process, but also as a creative you have to work “ON” your business, not just “IN” your business. In other words, you can’t be successful just by being creative, you have to be business minded as well (even if not as fun). My brand is spiritually inspired and created with love. I have an amazing team and can create any type of unique piece you desire. Jewelry is fun and should be a statement about who you are!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh I love this as I have a whole schedule for my non L.A. guests. The beach is one of the first places everyone from out of town wants to see. I like to drive to Zuma beach and have drinks at the “Sunset Cafe” and watch the sun set over the ocean. Then a drive down P.C.H. pointing out celebrity homes and spotting the Santa Monica pier. I also love Casa Del Sol in Santa Monica where you are up high and have a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. If you like Mexican food, I give a big Shout Out to “Pacos Tacos” on Centinella in Culver City, they have the best and I mean best flour tortillas and nachos con chorizo EVER!!! We of course have to take a drive up to the Hollywood sign from Beachwood Canyon and get photos, then down the hill and have In-N-Out burger. We have to at least drive through Hollywood if not walk it so you can see Grahman’s Chinese Theater, Kodak Theater and El Capitan. From there, I love Pace’ restaurant on Laurel Canyon for a hidden getaway meal with excellent food, the over to the Comedy Store to check out Tammy Tavares, a hilarious comedian in “D Cups of Comedy”. I love the hiking in LA, everything from Tree People to the Nike Missle Silo to get your nature in. I also like to drive up to Santa Barbara for a completely different Cali vibe and walk the quaint town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is a culmination of people and organizations that have helped shaped my current life. First and foremost is my faith in God and Jesus, although I embrace all belief systems. That may sound like a blanket statement, but it truly isn’t, the power of prayer is for real!!! My intuitive healer Jennifer Schaefer that I’ve had the honor of traveling to Bali twice with and really began my transformational healing. Tony Robbins “Unleash the Power Within” LA 2019 also changed my life and made me realize what I’m truly capable of. On a more intimate scale, my husband and daughter and fur balls on a daily basis and some incredible friends such as Liz Svatek “Warrior Women Podcast”, Lynn Briggs Neal “Realtor Extrodinaire”, Jamielyn Lippman “Co-creator, Director of WTBB doc”, Gwendolyn Osborne “Lomolique”, Tiffany Smiley “More Than Me” and Brianne Davis “Author, Producer, Director, Actress”. I wouldn’t be where I am today without these amazing women surrounding me.
