We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Rasta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a doctor of Chiropractic. Our unique profession in healthcare allows us to use variety of techniques, technologies, Healing Arts, and exercises to treat our patients. What fuels my excitement in life is influencing neurology to help people live their best life. Not just an ordinary life, but an extraordinary life. I am proud to share the philosophy of chiropractic with patients and live my life according to this belief system. The chiropractic Philosophy believes that the body is self-healing and self-organizing, thus if we can remove any interference within this magical biological & electromagnetic system, the body has a greater chance of generating healing, vitality and wellbeing. Daniel David Palmer, the “father” of chiropractic who performed the first chiropractic adjustment in 1895 believed life is the expression of tone. He wrote extensively about the tone of the nerves. Palmer was able to see the electrical nature of our being while the science of neuroscience was not yet fully developed. Think of your nervous system as your brain & bunch of electrical wires in your body that give your body life and energy. These nerve impulses allow you to hold your muscle so you can look good, move and respond with coordination to your environment, experience different sensations, and perform different tasks. During the time I was earning my B.S in Psycholobiology at UCLA, I took many different neurology and neuroscience classes. I was always interested in how we can influence our Nervous system to control health & happiness. I participated in a research at UCB that focused on areas of the brain associated with movement and memory. During chiropractic school I focused on neurology and how the different pathways in our spinal cord control the body. I even made some videos that describe these pathways on youtube under Iwanttohealyou. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQjyruB9fdw After Chiropractic school, I experienced a very depressive and challenging period. I had no idea how to use what I was given in a way that was congruent with all these information that I had learned and also making a living. I had no idea how to deliver health and services that would truly make a difference in people’s lives. At times I felt too small and I felt like I had no chance succeeding in this field at all. I even thought about changing profession many times because once I had graduated and trying to find a job, it seemed so hard. I experienced lots of heart ache until one day I had a magical moment with God. I was in my car crying my eyes out and having a conversation with God. When I got home, and tried to make my way quickly to my room. My roomate and sweet friend Ivonne, recognized my inflamed eyes and asked me what was wrong. As tears fell down, I said: “I Just don’t think I can succeed in this field and share my gifts”. She comforted me with her sweet words & looked into my eyes with a special look of certainty and said look into “Network Spinal”. These words reminded me of the very first time, I had seen students get Network Spinal and my own very strange experience. I share about this experience in my story on youtube called “ How I became obsessed with Network Spinal Analysis.” https://youtu.be/rHYNVq0XShU After the series of events I experienced on that Magical day, I decided I was going to study Network Spinal. A technique developed by Dr. Donny Epstein. A week later, I met Dr. Michael Whelan who practices Network Spinal Analysis and took me under his mentorship. I started working at two different locations delivering Network Spinal to patients and as I shared my gifts, more people found me. After two years of working for someone else, my entrepreneurship spirit was feeling tight and stagnant; I wanted to bloom and fly high, but there was no space for me to spread out my pedals or wings. I wanted to have my own space for my growth, but the fear of instability and starting something from nothing was terrifying. I would come home frustrated with the traffic and complain of the stuckness within. My partner Farid, couldn’t comprehend why I was so scared of starting my own practice, because from his perspective my success was inevitable. To me, my success seemed far away, located behind a very high and steep mountain that would take me years to climb. You see, in my head, my dream of success existed in the future. So each time I visualized myself living my dream job, it was in the future. This is why I was stuck. My dream existed in a future that wasn’t here. The documentary Secret inspired me to make my vision board, and get clear on my dream of creating a healing center. Once I believed my dream was possible in present time, everything in my world shifted. My first call to rent a space, was a meditation and art center near my house. This was my perfect spot and this is where I am currently practicing from. Now, I had my space but I had no idea how to fill my space with patients. I knew I had to perform two main tasks in order to cultivate traffic to my practice. The first task was to be so good that everyone will start talking about my services and generate referrals, the second was to target the right audience who will be drawn to my services. I met my first series of patients at an Avocado Festival. It was strange to have a booth in the middle of vendors selling avocados, but it worked for my business just fine. Although correlation doesn’t mean causation, it made sense to me that most people who love avocados, also care about their health. My practice has grown significantly over the past year, I have expanded from 1 room to 5 and I offer variety of wellness services that target brain health and functional wellness. Majority of people find me through my advocates who are my patients and spread my name with their loved ones. There is tremendous power in” word of mouth” and creating a solid reputation. Success only comes if your customers are succeeding at their goals and can vouch for your services and products. Success is a chain reaction and requires flow of wealth, health, faith and love. Emphasis on the love, since it is the most powerful force in the universe. I want the world to know, there are invisible forces that shape our life. You are not able to see you are an electrical being, but there is prove that there are electrical signals right inside your eyes and arms, and everywhere else that is alive. Our gifts and pain are also invisible and hard to see with bare eyes. If we only see and interact with matter, we miss on the energy of life. My brand and what I have created helps people look at what may be invisible to naked eye. I teach people that it is possible to come in touch with energy of life and live a better life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I believe CA has the most expansive and diverse nature in the world. Since nature is my playground I would take my friend on a road trip to show them the most beautiful places in CA, We would get our hiking gears and swimming suites and head to Lake Tahoe. We would visit Squaw valley to either ski if it’s winter or enjoy the pool and roller skating if it is summer. We would visit Secret Cove for a swim and some beach time. We would go to Emerland bay for some hiking & sailing. We would then visit Yosemite Valley and do a bicycle ride to explore the entire valley and do a hike the next day to see all the rainbows by the waterfalls. We would spend the last days in O.C hiking back bay loop in costa mesa and enjoying paddle boarding in Newport beach. I would take them to Koftegi, a Turkish restaurant in Anaheim for their all day amazing breakfast. Humus bean for their amazing vegetarian meals and cook for them for the rest of the time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a tribe of people who help me live my best life by sharing my gifts & feeling connected. My family who allowed me to make my own decisions & trusted me. My close friends who love me unconditionally. My mentors & teachers who took interest in me & continue to guide me. My students, who believed in me. My mentees who felt inspired by me. For success in particular, I will give my shoutout to my Fiance; Farid Shirvani, The Best Engineer in town.
