We had the good fortune of connecting with Terron Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terron, why did you pursue a creative career?
I think I was the one who was pursued by The Artist. I was a very shy kid who at first glance no one would ever say I’d end up performing for thousands and actually enjoy being in the people business. I realized I had a God-given gift and no matter how hard I tried, the calling followed me. Once I accepted it, my whole life changed. Because I feel I was given an opportunity to serve, I don’t subscribe to chasing endeavors down. I believe what’s meant especially for me will be. The faith in the call is my key to freedom and endurance. Believe me, I tried to ignore it. But, the more I leaned in to purpose, I discovered joy in the uncertain paths my artistic career has taken me. It’s been an adventurous ride.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m always excited about inspiring others to greatness. Not sure it sets me apart, but I love to see others win. I share my truths, the hardships and successes to help others identify and relate. I enjoy being a spark for others. The best way to receive is by giving. My art is not limited to music. I think by being honest and courageously being transparent, there is freedom. I’m truly not doing what I do for fame. I do want to make an impact for change. I’ve gotten to where I am today professionally by my faith. Believing anything is possible and never giving up has been the gas in the tank. Success finds us while we are busy serving not ourselves but others. I’ve got incredible people in my corner and a reason to get up every day to create something beautiful to leave behind. I’ve learned the hard way that it’s easier to just be yourself. The world is looking for the true you. That’s the power and where the grace lies. I’d love the world to see me as a representative of the Light and a mirror that reflects love. I used to hate the word brand. But I get it now. My brand is inspiration. I don’t care what the job is as long as there is an opportunity to lift people higher.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d head out to Santa Monica Pier, ride bikes on the path near the water. The Stinking Rose in Beverly Hills is a must for dinner. Carlos Bakery on the 3rd Street Promenade for the best chocolate cake in the land:) Hopefully we could take in theatre at the Pantages. And, of course, wed’ go to Disneyland!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Always much love to my family. My beautiful wife Leilani for her unwavering support. My amazing children Andrew and Taylor for teaching me more about life than I could ever imagine. My team Dustin, Krystle, Tracy, Mark, Sylvia, and my manager Brian for working tirelessly to help me make a difference in the world and reach my impossible dreams. My great friends who keep me grounded. And #1 God, nothing is possible without Him.
