We had the good fortune of connecting with Thomas Mulzac and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thomas, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started MealZac Seasonings, I wanted food to inspire people in the same way that traveling does. When we pivoted from catering to food products, we allowed people to travel instantaneously through the unique flavors that we create.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I had to remember that small steps are still steps. Taking dozens of small steps each day is progress. In order for me to continue along this journey, I had to have fun and remember that there are no giant steps foward. Just choices made daily.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first thing we would do is grab food in the city! Then we would catch a movie or relax at Union Street park.
Then we would take a bike ride from the city to Brooklyn.
Of course, we would finish the day with a home cooked meal!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out to my middle school. I went to Eagle Academy located in Ocean Hill Brooklyn. We had a culinary class weekly and it was one of the most engaging and enjoyable aspects of my experience there. This school guided boys coming from underprivileged neighborhoods across Brooklyn and to see that there was a program teaching the life skill of cooking is incredible.
