We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim Ketenjian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tim, why did you pursue a creative career?
The answer is two-fold: I love to play music, and I love listening to music. These two interests feed each other. Listening to wonderful artists inspired me to create my own catalog of music. Subsequently, writing my own music has given me a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship & styles of other artists.

Songs & vocals resonate with me for years, not just days or months. There’s a lifetime of enjoyment that comes with music. Songs get passed down through generations, beyond the life of the writer or singer. Melodies strike a chord (excuse the pun) in our hearts that words alone cannot. Songs bring people together from all walks of life.

I’ve been blessed by so many artists over the years, and their songs have accompanied me on my life’s journey. I chose to pursue an artistic career because I want to do the same. I want to create songs and moments that will bless people on their journeys.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since we last spoke, I commemorated the 10 year anniversary of my debut album! I performed a two-hour retrospective concert and released two acoustic singles to celebrate the occasion. Putting together the concert set list reminded me how much I love singing these songs, and how my music is a unique blend of gospel and pop. If you come to a show of mine, you’ll hear some songs about faith, and you’ll hear some songs about love. You’ll hear songs with a lot of depth, and you’ll hear songs that are just plain fun.

After 10 years, I am grateful for all I’ve been able to accomplish, but I also recognize that being an artist is a continual journey with no endpoint. I believe I am a better writer and singer than I was 10 years ago, but I also believe there is much more I can do to grow.

My last performance of 2025 included 3 songs: one from the second album, one from the third album, and a brand new song. I love that I can sing songs from all different areas of my artistic career, find how they fit in my voice today, and share what they mean to me now. I also loved recording the Anniversary Single “New Song” ten years after its original release. The song still holds meaning and weight for me, even though I wrote it at a very different time of life.

I can’t wait to reveal the next album to you! The songs have got me hyped! I’m also excited to learn more about the recording process as I dive into making my fifth record.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Five of my recent favorites:

1. Pantages Theater – Right in the heart of Hollywood, this majestic theater is the perfect place for an afternoon or evening of storytelling. My love of theater was reignited at the Pantages in 2007 when I saw Wicked for the first time.

2. Dodger Stadium – I feel most like an Angeleno when I’m at Dodger Stadium, cheering on the Dodgers with thousands of others. Grab a hot dog and an ice cream (in a mini-baseball cap!) and join the fun.

3. Games N Grounds – This spot in the valley is a coffee shop, a lunch spot, and a place to play every board game! Grab a grilled cheese and get out your Catan expansion pack for an afternoon of competitive fun.

4. The Walt Disney Concert Hall – Just driving by this venue makes me happy. It’s architecturally unique, has an outdoor amphitheater with great acoustics (I like to drop by and sing a bar or two), and the performance hall is stunning! Whether you’re hearing Handel’s Messiah or Cody Fry, this venue is perfectly suited for beautiful music.

5. Universal Studios – From the magic of the Wizarding World to the always-riveting Water World show, this is a theme park I love to showcase. It’s got something for everyone, and that massive drop on the Jurassic World ride is thrilling! Now I want some butterbeer!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, God! All good gifts come from Him, and music is such a beautiful one. God has been with me through every performance, every songwriting session, every good and bad moment! I’m grateful I can always lean on Him.

Second, all the churches that have supported my musical growth since I was 11. Many people at church and at camp encouraged me as a young person. They told me I was making good music. Hearing those words as a kid gave me the drive to keep going, to hone my craft, and to keep showing up when I felt like giving up. I’m glad I’ve gotten to continue sharing music with churches, especially in my most recent album cycle. I’m grateful for their continued support and love.

Third, all the people who have listened to my albums & come to my shows over the past decade. Without listeners, songs would just stay in my home, unheard and unshared. It is meaningful to me that people listen to & engage with the music I’m creating.

Last but certainly not least – my wife. We just got married last year, and it’s been wonderful. After our first date, she went home and listened to all my music. She’s been a champion of what I’m doing since the beginning of our relationship. I’m so grateful to have an in-house support who encourages me at every performance and sings along whenever I write a new song. She was a huge help in putting together my 10-year anniversary concert last year. Love you, Bri!
