Meet Uzi Wizman | Founder of Borekas Sephardic Pastries

We had the good fortune of connecting with Uzi Wizman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Uzi, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor to our success would be; making sure that our product is always consistent, unique and high quality, and I always make sure to stay very focused on my goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is bringing something deeply rooted in Israeli culture into the American food scene in a way that feels natural and relevant. I took a simple product I grew up with and adapted it thoughtfully for a new audience…without losing its authenticity.
I’m most proud that we’ve been able to stand out in Los Angeles with something so simple, yet so intentional. A product made from flour, fat, cheese, and eggs…executed at the highest level. Understanding our audience and committing to quality without compromise is what allowed that to happen.
The journey wasn’t easy, and it still isn’t. It takes long hours, consistency, and persistence, especially when the path isn’t always clear. I’ve learned to stay focused, block out noise, and keep pushing forward.
I learn something new every day, and one of the biggest lessons is that challenges often lead to better outcomes. Authentic food doesn’t disappear…it evolves. My goal is to preserve it, refine it, and continue pushing it forward while honoring where it comes from.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my family. My wife, kids, parents, and brothers are my greatest inspiration. They push me to be the best version of myself and give me the drive to keep innovating. I am forever grateful for their support – without them, none of this would be possible.
