We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Kwiatkowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from San Diego but both of my parents were born and raised outside of the US which definitely impacted who I am today. When you’re raised by people who didn’t grow up in the same country as you, you get a different perspective on things (and are definitely the guinea pig a lot of the time!).

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart as a comedian is that I’m very dark. I really like playing with dark humor and pushing the envelope just a little bit, but still keeping things playful. One thing I’ve learned is to not get too hung up on the small failures throughout the journey because those are just part of life. I’m at a place now where I’m just having a lot of fun and focusing on making people laugh and bringing some levity to their lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love driving up the coast with people and getting food from Malibu Seafood – it’s a must! I would also take them downtown to hop between breweries, and then maybe catch an exhibit at The Broad. Another must for me would be rollerskating on the boardwalk and then finishing out the weekend with Prime Pizza.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people have helped me get to where I am today! My parents have always been super supportive and encouraged me to pursue comedy. I also don’t think I would have any confidence if it wasn’t for my friends who have gone to my shows since day 1 and continue to support me by buying tickets, sharing my content, and hyping me up to the people in their lives.
