We had the good fortune of connecting with Viktoriya Neverov-Krstic Anna Frumkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Viktoriya Neverov-Krstic, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When we met at a networking event, we realized we were both referring our clients to similar herbs and supplements. We mutually saw there was a hole in the supplement market for a calming blend that takes into consideration both western and eastern traditions.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We founded R + A to bring people nourishing + healing self-care rituals, morning, noon, and night. Bridging together western nutrition with traditional Chinese medical herbs is what makes R + A standout. Our flagship product, Sleep Juju, is a nourishing herbal and mineral elixir with soothing magnesium, jujube seed + magical mulberry to help calm the mind, promote beauty from within and provide a restful night of sleep. We are excited to bring to you the much-needed rest + calm you desire and deserve. Nutritionist, Anna Frumkin N.C. : “I studied holistic nutrition and became a nutritionist because I needed to learn how to naturally support myself when it came to optimizing my digestion, sleep, and stress. My digestive issues took a toll on my personal + social life and created weekly stress and anxiety. Immersing myself in holistic health and learning about vitamins, minerals, botanicals, as well as key macro and micronutrients supported my own healing journey as well as my nutrition clients. Creating Rituals + Alchemy came from a deep desire to empower those around me to soothe and nurture themselves with the power of natural, clean + adulterated healing remedies.” Doctor of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, Viktoriya Neverov-Krstic: “I decided to study Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine because of my desire to improve my own health. I grew up with a very weak immune system and found myself sick quite often. When I finally decided to get my health in control, I changed my diet and learned more about food-grade herbs. I then decided to dive further into the holistic world and learn TCM. I found such healing with herbal medicine that I wanted to reach more people with the power of botanicals, vitamins and minerals. That’s when the idea of Rituals + Alchemy was born.” We’ve had to become very resourceful within Rituals + Alchemy when it comes to the financial part of the business since we are currently self-funded. This has been the greatest challenge for us, but also the biggest source of reward because every time we face this difficulty, we manage to figure it out through our determined attitude and not taking ‘no’ as an answer. Our motto is “everything is figure-outable.”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live and work in Pacifica, California – a coastal beach town 15 minutes outside of San Francisco. So this is where we’d spend the day. We’d start the day with a beautiful hike on Mori Point, where you can overlook the coast as well as the Pacifica pier. For lunch, we’d take them to our favorite avocado-toast Cafe called Soul Grind. We’d definitely make sure to hit Linda Mar beach to relax and listen to the soothing ocean waves. For dinner, we would check out an organic Mexican eatery called the Green Enchilada + watch the sunset on the top of Robert’s road.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We both had mentors who are in health and wellness who helped us realize this dream. Anna the nutritionist of R+A went to Bauman College where the founder Dr. Ed Bauman inspired her to pursue the vision of creating her own nutritional blends. Meanwhile, Viktoriya was taught by many wonderful acupuncturists and Qi Gong practitioners like Dr. Liping Zhu, who also inspired her to have a holistic vision. This is why Anna and Viktoriya merged western and eastern healing traditions.
