We had the good fortune of connecting with Wardale Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wardale, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
I think outsiders of the music industry truly don’t realize that this is an actual legitimate business. I work based off of a schedule, have weekly and monthly goals, as well as networking, and email listings. This is all in addition to actually creating the music which also can take weeks or months. But it is a labor of love

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What separates me from other musicians (or really most humans in general) is my ability to fuse science with artistic expression. Although my creative process is extremely organic I still break things down to the most fundamental principles and build up from there. This is vital to me particularly due to the fact that I typically am making the entire song from scratch from conception to release. Typically when a song is made, you have a producer or composer who makes the music, a songwriter who writes the lyrics, the artist, and the mixing and mastering engineers. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to develop all of these skills myself and although I still have my strengths and weaknesses I am essentially using vertical integration to make a song for myself and others. It can be extremely time consuming.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would base this off of the personality of the friend. If it’s someone more chill then we would probably just go to a park and read or draw. Or pull up an interesting documentary on Netflix. If its someone who thrives off of spontaneity we may go hiking or to a bar. Oklahoma City is an interesting city due to the fact that it still has nature elements as well as the city life so there are many things to do you just have to dig a little since geographically its a larger city. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My first shoutout would have to be to my parents. They are both superheroes to me and both have impacted my creativity, work ethic, and moral code. As a child, my mother would play broadway musicals throughout the house not even realizing the impact and effect it would have on my future in music. Every time I watched her she would be full of joy and passion when music was on and I wanted to provide that same feeling for everyone. My father taught me work ethic and taking care of your responsibilities at a young age. From investments to balancing a checkbook he allowed me to fuse the world of music with a business mindset because at the end of the day we have to pay the bills in order to provide the world with quality music. They both have always encouraged me and supported me every single step of the way
