Meet Wendy Samano | Cake maker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendy Samano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wendy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After culinary school I knew I had found my passion which was baking; soon after I had the idea to create a simple menu and put it on social media for people to see what I had to offer. People liked it and began ordering cakes. It felt right and I loved staying creative, it was a dream.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make custom buttercream cakes using quality ingredients. The time and effort I put into my work is everything to me. I get inspiration from my dad who worked on his craft (carpentry) in the same way. I don’t have anyone working for me because I love being able to control every part of the process. I do all the admin, shopping, baking, and decorating. It can be overwhelming at times but I remind myself to take breaks, organize, and keep pushing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom lead me on the right path to find something meaningful that would bring me joy. Both my parents set a good foundation of love and support I’m so thankful for them. I hope to teach my kids that with dedication, practice, and patience we can achieve anything our heart desires.
