We had the good fortune of connecting with William Medrano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi William, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I still tend to try to keep going. It’s hard because sometimes live gets in the way of a lot of things and especially with what’s happened in the past year, it can be a struggle to keep on going but I’m blessed to have people around me who are creative and push me to keep going, Got to have your circle and feed off each other’s energy, Inspire one another. Especially when trying to rise up because as they say it takes a village.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So I do a lot. I don’t like to box myself out of anything but I do a twitch stream where I play music don’t really hear on say the radio or a playlist like rap caviar (not disrespect to them) and also play music from friends who are super talented and make amazing songs. I would call the twitch stream like a virtual aux cord takeover, where I play music for an hour, give my takes and the listeners are on a vibe. I also do Youtube videos such as vlogs, food reviews, that are still in the works but coming out soon. I do a podcast from time to time and artist manage my good friend Ian Santillano who is a talented singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist. Resides from the Bay Area. What sets aside me from others is that I do not like to box myself from doing anything. I am trying to become a multimedia personnel so I not only do twitch streams, do a podcast. artist manage, clothing brand owner. I strive to attack different avenues because it interested me and execute my goals in each avenue the best way I can. I give it my all. What I am most excited about is the new ideas I have for this year in 2021 we were in lockdown for a whole year where I barely went out, just to a grocery store. So I have so much planned out that I want to push out and give to my viewers because I’ve been cooking on the low but we ready to swerve yaaaa know? I got here, to where I’m at today, because of the people that I have around me that I can rely on and have helped me bring my ideas to life. Like stated in the answer before I got my group of people who have helped me push my brand and are continuing to right now as I type this out. I’m definitely not at my full potential but I feel like I have set a foundation on what I want to do and it’s just more of executing my ideas more like shooting videos, doing more twitch streams and coming out with fire ass clothing. It definitely hasn’t been easy because I can be a little indecisive in what I want to do but being in lockdown as definitely got me mentally focused and been able to draw out my goals and ideas in what I want to do. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that to be confident in what you do I think we get sometimes so caught up as creative to doubt ourselves, but it’s like we got to have confidence to push out our works to the public to see and critique. Key word is critique! It’s ok for people to critique your work because if you don’t then you’re settling to much and not leaving room to improve yourself and be better. Just going to be stuck in the same place for the rest of your life (don’t mean to sound too dark, I’m sorry). What I want the world to know about my brand is that Heat Check is a way to of life. When you think of the word “heat check” it refers to the sneaker culture in how amazing one’s sneakers so I’ve taken that concept of feeling “cool” “fly” “sexy” and translate it to my clothing. When people see my twitch streams and the music I play or YouTube videos I put out I want viewers to see that this man is putting out straight fire, hence going back to the heat check in how in sneaker culture reference in having fire, nice ass kicks. That’s what I want people to know when they see my brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dolores Park that is located in San Francisco. Can get drunk and enjoy beautiful views of the city. Ok and then we’d go eat at Santa neca, which is the best Salvadoreno food you will ever have. I know because I am from El Salvador and have tried the food and is delicious. For some drinks we’d go to El Techo, which is a rooftop bar in San Francisco that you can get amazing view of the city and got bomb tequila selection. Places to visit in the Bay Area is forsure Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods got tall trees and is very peaceful to be around. Go to Half-moon bay to try some nice crab cakes and walk around the beach. The interesting place to check out is definitely the Exploratorium in San Francisco. Your third eye will be open, all I’m a say.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout a couple people, who I always tend to collaborate and really just keep me going. First shoutout to my artist Ian Santillano, aspires me to think outside the box in ways to promote his music and have the faith in me in making creative decisions for him, whether it be what songs he needs to put out, what music video ideas I have, etc. He keeps my music dreams alive and I’m glad to enjoy the ride with him as he starts to rise to fame. 2 other people I want to shoutout are Gabe Brandt and my girl Kimmy aka Kaymami_ who are helping me with artworks/designs for my merch for my brand that I am currently trying to launch and artwork cover for my first music project that I am putting out as well. Coming out with a compilation of slow edits, be on the look out for that. Gabe has always helped me create amazing designs for my twitch streams as well. Seeing both Kim and Gabe works in how they have been able to put my ideas to life has left me in awe all the time. They help my work look presentable and attractive to my viewers. They are just amazing artists, who do amazing work. Also shoutout to my friend Omar currently working on my website just another amazing designer who is skilled computer wise in elevating this to the next level. I got to shoutout one of my good friends Kharissa who is an entrepreneur of her own. Has her own blog site, beauty line and Tik Tok fan base, she always talks to me about her ideas and I do the same too and it’s nice to have regular conversations of how we both want to be creative and elevate. She keeps me going so blessed to have her in my life. Couple more people who I also want to give their flowers to is a new collaborator who is an amazing digital designer, my good friend  Marielle Cabillo. Helping me with designs for new clothing launch and YouTube ideas got coming out. She’s got the vision! Also my good friend Tino Corro who is an amazing illustrator and digital designer. So many people who have help me create. The team is growing so it’s been exciting to see and be apart of.
