We had the good fortune of connecting with Zoe Zheng and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zoe, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?

“Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

——Steve Jobs

In a big city like LA it’s easy to get distracted and lose direction. When I can’t make a decision, I imagine myself sitting at an interview, except the interviewer is death.

He asks: “walk me through your experience and future plans.”

What should I say? My answer to that guides the choices I make.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

As a multidisciplinary designer and animation director, my work has been exhibited internationally at places like Times Square, Penn Museum, and Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. My artistic philosophy revolves around storytelling through dynamic, visually compelling narratives that aim to move people, spark reflection, and inspire us to feel the depths of life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The beach, hiking trails, picnics, tourist spots, overpriced cafes, and Hollywood Forever Cemetery (to keep the theme of death going).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Shout out to my parents, friends, USC professors, people I work with, and people I will work with in the future.
