Persevere or Pivot?

To persevere or to pivot is a question that do-ers have been asking themselves since the beginning of time. It’s never a straight road when you are doing something new, blazing a trail, breaking a ceiling, or pushing boundaries, so it’s only natural to wonder whether to give up midway. How do you know whether to keep going or to give up?

Filmmaking is an art and it’s a business. I’ve been at it for many years and I’ve seen people persevere and quit along the road. So much of the industry is about sticking around, honing your craft, and continuing to make films. I’ve directed eight short films and one feature, and each one of those films is a set of lessons. My feature won some festival awards and was invited to screen on Netflix—and I self financed it on a bank loan of 10K. At times, being a creative can be very strenuous. It can take a negative toll on you mentally & financially. Any time I think about giving up I always think about the outcome of the work that I’m putting in and the sacrifices that I’m making to achieve my goals, and that keeps me focused. Read more>>

I don’t think we should ever give up, because there are always solutions to everything. In terms of starting a business, there is always room for improvement you can always find ways to innovate and keep going. In my opinion you should never give up something you start until you finish.
