We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been creative and absolutely LOVED creating and telling stories. It is truly magical to express emotions through art – whether that be through tv, movies, books, music, drawings, or any other art form. Growing up, I had always spent most of my time creating and consuming all sorts of art. With so much reading came so much writing. There are countless notebooks from my childhood that hold a ton of short stories, which are usually about princesses, mermaids, and fairies. On my eighth birthday, I got a camera, which greatly inspired me to get into photography and filmmaking. As I joined drama club in middle school and read a ton of books about acting in Hollywood, I became very inspired to follow that path. Throughout high school, these worlds combined as I would write, film, and act in original short films with my friends. By senior year, I had written an original novel (The Enchantress), published it through my production company, Syrena Productions, and got into college as a film and television production major at Loyola Marymount University. I graduated in 2019 and have been following my acting/writing/filmmaking dreams all the way throughout. It’s truly incredible being able to share emotions through art and inspire others along the way.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create art of many forms, while mostly focusing on acting, writing, and filmmaking. I also love music, design, and photography. I think what really sets me apart from others is the true passion for what I do and the constant desire to create and inspire. I’m always working on something. Right now, I’m working on self-taped auditions, writing a couple of novels, and writing new songs while also spending as much time with my family as I can. I keep a main focus, but that focus shifts as new projects always arise in different ways. Some of my most proud achievements have definitely been writing and publishing my novels, as well as, creating original web series (LA MERMAIDS), short films (DREAMCATCHER), and vlog content (LIVIN’ CA). I’m currently finalizing the second novel to the ROYALTY STATUS trilogy, working on some Wattpad originals, and in production of the second season of LA MERMAIDS! I’m excited to continue creating while acting as much as I can. I have always been a storyteller, which led to my first novel (THE ENCHANTRESS) to be written and published before graduating from high school. I Then moved to LA and graduated Loyola Marymount University as a film and television production major in 2019. My senior thesis film (DREAMCATCHER) has gotten recognition, including being screened at AMC for the 2019 Burbank International Film Festival. Since graduation, I have been actively auditioning and booking projects, working as an actor (including a Disney Channel promo for the DESCENDANTS 3 movie), and working weekends as a party performer (PURE IMAGINATION PARTY COMPANY), enjoying performing as various lovable characters and princesses and bringing imagination to life. During this era in quarantine, I have been working on novels, my website, self-care, and short films for contests, as well as, music, learning French, and spending a wonderful time with my family while in New York for a bit. This journey has definitely been wonderful, but it’s far from easy. I follow my heart, make the best decisions as much as I can, and listen to my intuition, which all helps. There’s still plenty of self-doubt, fear, and troubles believing through rejections, but I find that as long as I keep the hope that every step, good or bad, leads to another amazing opportunity. Everything eventually works out the way it’s meant to be as long as we keep trying and believe! I’d love the world to know that I tell my stories and share insight because I believe we all have the power to make our dreams come true, no matter what. You are enough! Everyone has their own life story, which is unique to them, but should be cherished.
