We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Newton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacy, how do you think about risk?
Risk has played a huge part of my life and career. I decided a long time ago if I was truly going to follow my dreams, I had to take a risk. When I moved to Los Angeles to start my acting and screenwriting career, I gave up years of comfort. I had to leave my friends, my home, and a professional teaching job. When I begin to feel too comfortable I realize I need a challenge. Challenges involves risks. When I am not risking being vulnerable and true to who I am as a writer or actor, I lack growth. I believe in taking risks we are passionate about so we can grow and relate to others. I would not be where I am today without risk taking.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an author of 6 books. I love to tell stories. I am really proud that I wrote my first book while I underwent several surgeries. It was a difficult time in my life and writing helped me with the physical pain. I felt accomplished when I had my first book signing at Barnes&Nobles. Nothing is ever easy, it took a lot of sacrifices and inner drive to get to where I am today. When an opportunity came, I took it regardless of any risks. I knew in life if I didn’t, I could regret it. When a door or window opened I went through it. What helped me was making peace with my past, and that meant any mistakes I had made, to learn from them and keep moving forward. I am in a place I can help others to keep their dreams alive. Set backs are just that, and you can choose to either move backwards, not move, or continue to move forward closer to your dream. Reflecting back, I embrace all of the pain, mistakes and disappointments. I would not be the person I am today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is a great place to visit. There are several great resturants and places to shop. One can not miss Melrose, Beverly Hills, Hollywood or the Sunset Strip. I enjoy the close proximity to some of my favorite beaches; Santa Monica, Venice and Malibu. The beautiful views of the city from the Hollywood Hills and so many gorgeous hiking trails.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am grateful to Studio 4 who took a chance on me. Who showed me how to write scripts and use Meisner Technique acting. I am also grateful to my family and friends who stood by me through challenging times so I can truly do my passion, writing.
