We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephy Wong Nash and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephy Wong, what is the most important factor behind your success?
A logo is only that until you add a face, personality, and reputation in front of it. That’s when it becomes a “brand” When someone recognizes your logo as a successful business, that’s how a brand is made. A brand includes your name, your speech, and how you deliver greatness to your clients. These are some quotes from multiple reviews I have received and as you see they all have similar things in common, which brings up an important part of my brand and that’s consistency. “Stephy has such a great personality! Shes outgoing, fun, and professional.” “Aaaand the reason why I think Stephy is THE BEST is because of her professionalism. She’s prompt to respond (sometimes it’s literally instant), super experienced (both as a photographer and a businesswoman), offers top-notch customer service, and I love her bubbly personality. ” “She is genuinely one of the nicest and most heart-felt people you will ever meet. You will love and cherish your photos along with the memories having them taken forever.” “She was seriously HILARIOUS and kept us laughing the whole time 🙂 Not to mention, the photos turned out beautiful.” “Stephy was amazing! She has a personality that just makes you feel like you’ve been friends for years!” “She has such a great personality she made me feel comfortable and at ease, like I have known her forever! ” Work as a photographer is not only about the final product as you can see, but about what comes behind it and supports it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I started out, I worked daily and all night and all day to make sure I was doing “the right thing” for my business for a year straight. I didn’t’ want to be conventional and want to be like everyone else. My website is like no one elses and is one of the most common compliments I hear from potential clients. The other most common compliment I hear is reassurance on the clients part “You have EVERYONE on your site, not JUST models” “I expected your site gallery to be like other photographers posting their “best looking people”, but was pleasantly surprised to see that you have everyone of every color, size, and you have brought out the beauty in all the subjects. Upkeeping your brand is as much work as making it. Keep consistency and stay true to yourself and business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
we would eat at Texas De brazil for what I call “lazy cows” since they bring the beef to you! We would go to an escape room. and end the night with karaoke.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So much support goes behind a successful business. I would like to thank Jacquelynn Mendoza of Destination Weddings for recognizing me out of a sea of bridal vendors and adding me to her arsenal of Photographers to represent her all inclusive wedding packages. Ann of Bushard Photography who has been my right hand ever since I rebranded my business when I had a falling out with my ex business partner from another successful brand. She supported me not only as a someone who was helping a fellow vendor in the industry but as a friend. Words can’t thank her enough for that. My GBFF Kevin who I took under my wing as an aspiring photographer who stepped up his game to be a support in times of need for events, life, and frankly anything that came our way. Big thanks to any vendors I have worked with who have promoted me through their business who have enhanced my business by their beautiful products and professionalism.
