We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After recording and writing music professionally for years, I moved into Business Management. I eventually began to manage at least 16 entities at once. At that point, I realized that there was no reason that I shouldn’t have a company of my own. Entrepreneurship is my thing.
What should our readers know about your business?
Lumi Luxury Travel specializes in small group travel to international and domestic locations. We pride ourselves in our affordable luxury accommodations and unforgettable excursions. We make it super easy to travel with our installment plans. Outside of our travel tours, we curate destination birthdays, family trips, girls getaways and vacays for couples. What sets us apart from other travel companies is our travel & lifestyle management. Think of us as personal travel assistants. Our vacations are highly customizable. We are hands-on throughout the entire planning process especially during travel, where many unforeseen events can occur. Need that exclusive VIP reservation in Greece? We can make that happen. Want the hottest concert ticket in Cape Town? We’ll take care of that too!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Beauty & Essex! They have the lounge vibes as well as amazing eats and drinks! Shopping is a must in LA. The Grove and a few specialty shops along Fairfax Blvd will give you those exclusive finds. Runyon Canyon gets a shoutout for a celebrity sighting or two while getting a full body workout. For much needed rest and respite, spend your morning at Wi Spa. Simple, fun and memorable.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One of my biggest sources of inspiration in my most recent years is the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. Many people know about the book. What I loved so much about the story was how he searched for a treasure that was right beneath him the entire time. That happens to us so much in life, doesn’t it? We go out looking for things that are within us. The story gives me confidence to trust in and always bet on myself. It’s great when we can work with others & capitalize on opportunities they offer. But I truly believe that the best opportunities are the ones we create for ourselves.
