am inspired by honest storytelling in many different forms. As an actor the storytellers that come to mind are: Michaela Coel, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali. They know how to make us feel deeply. They know how to use specificity in order to highlight our universal human experiences. I am inspired by organizers and activists, both those who have left us and those out in the world organizing right now. I read Audre Lorde, Toni Morrison, Octavia Butler and my consciousness grows. I read and follow the work of Adrienne Maree Brown, Sonya Renee Taylor, and Dean Spade, They stoke my imagination and open me up to new possibilities. These may seem like disparate sources of inspiration, but what they have in common is that they reveal parts of the human experience honestly and in doing so, help us better understand ourselves. I’m inspired by all things natural, earthy, boho, and modern. Pretty much anything and everything my eyes gravitate to. Nature is a big one. I’ll literally be walking down the street, look down, see a piece of wood and pick it up to admire its every design. I’ll arrive home with much excitement, show my finding to my husband but he’ll look at me cross-eyed because to him it is just a stick.
