Meet John Ennis: Actor, Writer & Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with John Ennis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The first time I performed I realized it was the only thing I ever wanted to do. And then everything around performing became interesting as well.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I never say “no” to a creative task. I am just as excited to be working on a newcomer’s short film like “Verbatim” as I am on a hit show that I love like “Dead to Me.” My daily reprieve of working on my art includes working with dozens of artists every week, no matter what. So the more ways I can help others, the more I am learning; the more times I hear a script read, the more times I understand it. And the more rehearsal, the better the play. So sharing this process *is* the process. And by having a process in which i wanted to work every day, I knew I needed a theater- that’s where The Yard Theater comes in.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, and outdoors: Elysian Park, Griffith Park, the fire road above Encino.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is dedicated to those who perform every week – the joy they took in their work and the continued growth led me to realize this was the process that would lead to fulfilling results.
