We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandy Chagolla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking has played a substantial part in my story both personally and professionally. I believe the life we want to live is right on the other side of our fears. Pushing through to our best life, our goals, and unspoken dreams is crucial if we want to live the life that we imagine for ourselves. Taking risks is something that has not always been easy for me but when I started to weigh the benefit of our social impact vs. my doubts it was a no-brainer to launch the nonprofit.

What should our readers know about your business?
Lending Relief has 3 main programs: Diaper Need, Period Poverty, and Hygiene kits for the homeless. We exist to create lifelong change to break the cycle of poverty. What sets us apart is our consistency of meeting the needs on our city streets. I am most proud of our ability to pivot in times of great adversity. Creating a nonprofit to help the homeless and low income families of LA has its challenges. We started a Gofundme for all our startup fees, another challenge is keeping up with social media. One of the lessons I’ve learned along the way is to ask for help when I need it. I hope our legacy is a positive social impact in our city.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite spots of LA are Santa Monica, views of LA from the Hollywood Hills, and West Hollywood. I love hiking in our city from Runyon to Topanga, and the Santa Monica mountains we really have it all. Melrose is a must see. Venice Beach is a must and of course rooftop cocktails at Hotel Erwin. The Sunset Strip never disappoints and The Getty is great, I love their Renaissance Art Floor!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to Shoutout my team for supporting me over the years. There are so many who have contributed to my life. My family is very supportive, The board of Lending Relief has been crucial for me. Mentors I’ve had the chance to learn from. My Shoutout is for every single mom trying to keep her family together in the face of great adversity. You are my heroes and your life is my inspiration to keep going.
